hello everyone, I am trying to quit smoking and have a rx200s. I just have a few questions about vaping. Is it actually better than smoking? Like can you get cancer and all of that from vaping? And i'm just curious what about the pg and everything you are inhaling to your lungs? I love vaping and want to switch all of the way instead of smoking analogs. I'm new to this so I apologize lol

I would recommend you do some major research. It would take many of us many hours of our time to cover your questions satisfactorily.
It is undeniable... Vaping is much, much safer than smoking. All the top scientists agree.
The genie is out of the bottle. Totally safe? (as in 100%) ... we just don't know yet but the evidence grows everyday.
There are people out there who don't want us to do it because they believe the world can stop smoking and vaping is just technology that will disrupt smokers just stopping.... which is kind of mad, since there are a billion people who can't quit smoking.

If it's any help, there are 4 basic ingredients in e-liquid. Propylene Glycol (which is one ingredient in inhalers), vegetable glycerin (can be found in many foods, I believe is derived from corn, could be wrong about that) nicotine (which is optional) and flavor extract. Compare that to all the chemicals in cigarettes, vaping is certainly the better option. Honestly for me, it was the lack of tar and formaldehyde alone that convinced me to switch.

But further research certainly won't hurt any. If you have any doubts whatsoever about vaping to quit smoking, do some research.

I do know my lungs are, as is the rest of me, feeling an awfully lot better in the 3 1/2 weeks since my last analog.

I figure in 47 years of smoking I've paid over $50,000 in taxes on cigs. Is it any wonder that the govt's are not liking the invention of vaping and are madly trying to control it and in the process tax it. It makes all their yapping about health benefits of not smoking just so much "smoke and mirrors" to their only true concern.

All good advice given so far. :thumb:

For my blog for beginner/intermediate vapers on technical aspects of vaping:
From my personal experience, I was a 35 year smoker. I loved to smoke and never thought that I'd be able to quit. However, I realized that continuing to smoke was going to put me in a casket much sooner than wanted. Over the last 10 of those 35 years I smoked, I tried all of the traditional methods to "stop smoking"; from nicotine gum & patches, prescription drugs, and hypnosis twice. None of them worked for me.

Within 1 week after trying my first e-cigarette, I had totally quit smoking. It's been five years of me being smoke-free, and I haven't missed cigarettes once. Yes, I'm addicted to vaping, but I have reduced my nicotine from 18mg down to 3mg, and I'm convinced that vaping is a MUCH healthier alternative to smoking.

I believe that the addiction to smoking has multiple components. Not only are smokers addicted to nicotine and all the other chemicals present in tobacco smoke, but there are habitual and behavioral components as well. That's why vaping worked for me. The gum & patches replace nicotine, but they didn't have any effect on the habitual and behavioral components of my addiction. For me, I missed the hand-to-mouth habit and the inhale/exhale behavior of smoking, and vaping replicated those behaviors.

There is a reason why there is negative and false information about vaping. Greedy corporations (Big Tobacco and Big Pharmaceutical) and corrupt government agencies (FDA) have spread propaganda into the media for their own personal gain and interests.

Vaping may not be completely without the potential to do harm but it is undoubtedly less harmful than cigarettes. At the same time it fills the need for my behavioral addictions, which another member listed above.

I met with a smoker friend this past weekend and started vaping while she was smoking. She immediately started going on a rant about how it was a completely unregulated market and that I had no idea what I was putting in my body. I listed those 4 ingredients listed above and then asked her to list the 9000+ ingredients in her cigarettes. She didn't want to talk about it after that.

I bet she didn't.

I've noticed over the years that smokers love to tell vapers "we don't know what's in them"... I mean, that is just crazy beyond crazy. Who seriously (smokers) doesn't worry about the thousands of chemicals in cigarettes... smokers know they are playing roulette with carcinogenic substances.

A couple weekends ago at a bar I stepped out to vape. There were a couple guys out smoking too. One of them preceded to tell me how it was actually worse than cigarettes (though didn't bother to cite any evidence to that). I was in a very good mood so I didn't bother with the debate.

But a week later at the same bar, I stepped out to vape when I woman was walking to her car. She asked me how I liked vaping. So I told her that of all the stop-smoking methods I have tried, vaping is the only thing that has absolutely stopped my cravings for analogs. I told her that since I started I haven't even thought about a cigarette and how it tasted so much better. She said she was desperate to quit so I hope she made the switch.
