Not sure if I'm in the right sub forum, but I'll give it a try. I've seen talk of people switching out their dual coils for single coils. I have an Aspire Nautilus and regular pen type Aspire tanks and would like to switch to a single coil. I have no clue where to begin or where to look. Can anyone help this dumb old lady????

I also have Ecto T9 tanks, which are awesome, too and would like to do the same. I am told you will use up less liquid and it shouldn't affect the taste, although I think I am switching to all unflavored.

    Thanks a lot,

    Katmar

You are using clearomizers. They use proprietary replacement coils specific to model/manufacturer of the tanks. You will not be able to switch to single coils with the Aspire clearomizer tanks.

You probably have read of people changing the cartomizers for cartotanks from dual coil to single coil cartos. Cartomizers and cartotanks are an entirely different type of juice attachment from a clearomizer.

Proper Terminology: Is it a Carto, a Tank, or What?

Thanks, so the only way would be to rebuild, correct?

Correct. To my knowledge, Aspire only makes dual coil heads for their clearomizer tanks.

There are a number of single coil clearomizers still on the market. The Kanger Evod, Kanger Protank 2, and Kanger T3S come to mind. However, clearomizer manufacturers appear to be moving towards dual coil designs for the future.

You might want to consider switching over to cartotanks where you can use single coil cartomizers in the tanks. IMHO, you get better flavor production and more consistancy with cartotanks over clearomizers. I rarely use clearomizers any more. I've been using cartotanks as my main juice device for the better part of two years.

Should you decide to use a cartotank, be sure to pick up one of the cartotank refill tools (mentioned in the first blog below) especially since you have arthritic hands. Makes setting up a cartotank easy.

Thanks for the great advice. I will use up the ones I have and give the cartotank a try.

I thought the Aspire Nautilus was a tank, and the Ecto also???? The aspire clearomizers, yes.

A tank is a term for a vessel that holds liquid. Unfortunately this causes lots of confusion with vape devices. There are tanks that hold coil assemblies (also called heads) and tanks for cartomizers and rebuildable tanks like the kayfun series.

Katmar, I have become the de facto sponsor (much in the way of the AA) for a couple of ladies, members of my extended family. As you have discovered, cartos, clears, tanks, et al are a pain in the rear, last for a wink and don't taste that great. Maintenance is a female dog! Furthermore, their eGo Twists are constantly failing thus keeping the cost of kickng the coffin nail habit quite high. So, I have convinced them to move to simple mechs and drippers. Found them some very reasonably priced Mini-Nemesis and ultra simple Smoktech Drippers, keeping the rigs femeninely sized.

At the moment I'm supplying them with DIY juice and 1.6Ω coils that they can easily install. Also I gave them a primer on measuring the voltage and resistance value with $11 meters from FT which I calibrated with an industrial grade ISO certfed DMM. ;) So far no risk of them exploding a mod on their pretty faces. <VBG> They learned to change their (cotton) wicks n five minutes and to wash and dry-fire their drippers with cols in place in another ten. From there on, two happy vapers.

I would suggest you learn to do simple >1.0Ω coils and use a simple to rebuild dripper like the Igo-L. You will climb to a vaping experience that is thousands of meters above the commercial replaceable heads.

    Check this easy tuto.
