Alright so I have a few questions about the chip. I bought a beck 26650 mod and it's the first moday with this chip that I have ever used. Didn't come with a manual obviously but this chip is great but I feel like I am not able to use it to the fullest because I don't know how to use the features. I am more of a mech guy because I don't like fiddling with menus and what not.

But the specs says it has a rotary display. What does that mean? It looks pretty linear to me.

Then it has a sensor. What does the sensor do. I have turned it on and off and noticed no difference in vape.

I know there are 5 modes and you can set each mode to be specific watts and stuff but I can't set like mode 4 to 45 joules and mode 5 to 60 watts. I have to press the button a million times before I can get to change the power/joule option to whichever then I can get to the mode.

Lastly. On temp control or joule mode, does it just automatically detect what metal I am using because I have seen a menu option to set what coil I'm using whether it's nickel or stainless or titanium.

1. Rotary display means if you set it to auto the screen flips according to the orientation (like a smartphone) - this can be found in the menu under "Display" : left, right, auto. you want auto

2. with the sensor on (independent setting with display), you don't need your up and down buttons, just tilt the mod either way for up and down scrolling / wattage adjustment / etc. I leave this OFF b/c I find it annoying and rather use + - buttons.

3. the mod will be in wattage mode (power mode) or joules mode (temp mode) throughout all of your settings (its a separate parameter, mod has C1-C5 and M1-M5, you cannot scroll through C1-C5 on the main screen you have to go into the menus to do this). So you cannot set M1 to wattage and M2 to joules and then switch been TC or power mode with the click of the up button. At least I haven't figured out how.

4. you have to tell the mod what wire you are using. the wire does not sense this itself.

Where do I go to tell the mod what wore I am using? I haven't seen an option for this in the menu screen.

When you get to the power mode switch to Joules there and you will be able to see your TL menu. Those menu's do not show up until you go into the Joules power setting.
OK so I switched to joules mode and kept going through the menu and there's no option to select metal type. It seems to be working fine though as I only get a hint of a dry burn when the cotton is past dry.

As mentioned, if the main screen says Joules instead of Watts its in temperature mode and vice versa. So to switch to temp mode you have to go into the menus (5 clicks) and change "Power & Joules" to Joules.

Well yeah I know that but like in most other tc capable mods you choose what metal your coil is made of because ti and ni200 and ss all have different tcr's but I have not found, nor has the shop that I purchased it from whom are very knowledgeable, a menu option to set coil material.

once you set it to joules recycle thru the menu and you'll find the settings for wire type, ni200, ti, ss304, sxpure or tcr.

Yep, like I said not there. It's a beck 26650 mod though. It says it has a sx350j generation 2 chip which I take they mean v2. It has the rotary display which is a dumb feature and the sensor which is again a dumb feature but seemingly doesn't have the feature I am curious about.

Remove the batteries, hold the fire button down, install the batteries while holding the fire button down. The screen should display information about the chip if it is a yihi sx350j

Once your in the menu, click until you see the "Power and Joule" setting, here is where you use your up/down buttons to select "Joule" to put the mod into TC mode. This needs to be done 1st to enable the coil selection menu.

The coil select option ought to be the next one after the F/C selection on the menu. Once there just use your UP/DOWN buttons to scroll through the selections. 'Manual TCR' (then press Fire) will get you to the manual TCR setting menu.

Assuming of course you have a real SJ350Jv2 chip.
