Compared to the Doggy - yes, it's tall.
I personally don't mind. I like the industrial design with a focus on 'Form follows function'. Everything with the FEV is well thought with just the bare minimum of parts. Personally, I hate those attie-puzzles with 20 parts and 10 different o-rings.
Using it for 4 years now, and I'm still surprised by its simplicity. Literally not a single problem in all those years. And be sure to use those DLC wicks instead of mesh for liquid transport. Makes it even easier.
Ah, it's also possible to use bell-caps with the FEV. Add a shorter driptip, and it's not that tall anymore. Maybe double the size of the doggy.
I found the YFTK FEV 4.5 the best one so far. I own the original aswell, and it's 99% perfect, if not more. But Shenray and Ulton are also okay. FEV 4 has a single airhole, FEV 4.5 has dual airholes, but one can be closed. So you have the choce between MTL and restricted DTL with this model.
