My first attempt.... Pretty messy....the vet gave me a really long needle and I was really just winging it... But...... The carts that I did fill by syringe, seem to be lasting forever.... So much better than my drip method. Remember, I'm the one that was doing the reverse taryn spin to fill my cartos and ended up with a bunch of mystery vapes. (btw Anita, I did zap them with my syringe while I had it out and cleaned up the mystery)
I think it is a process and just like the drip, and the taryn spin, I will get better at it with practice.
The carto seems to last significantly longer when refilled by syringe. I'm impressed!

Great to hear, mmc. I noticed the same, that cartos can last noticeably longer.

6, from one VGer to another, I encourage you to get the sharp (bevel) needles... unless you have a dangerous situation for some reason. The blunts do work, but even at 18 can be hard to slide smoothly down the side. Maybe try both to compare.

I use the 16ga and have no problem with the vg....it takes a little bit of wait time for the vg to catch up to the plunger, but it's not all that bad....Wish it was easier with something smaller, but I cannot imagine the 14.....ouchie!!

I encourage you to get the sharp (bevel) needles...

+1...the blunts take a bit of finagling to keep from squishing the filler....

Once you get the first stabbing out of the way, it's all uphill from there. During my first session, I did it by trying to remove the cap off the needle using way too much force and when it came off, my reflexes made my hand holding the cap move towards the needle, and I double-stabbed myself between the pinky finger and ring finger. What did I do next? Wrapped a tissue around it with a rubber band and proceeded to fill my cartos. No time for band-aids, I had cartos to fill! I have not drawn blood since, and it only gets better with practice (the filling, not the stabbing).

Hey, just because I was stupid doesn't mean it'll happen to you. In fact, there is less of a chance because you now know what I didn't know at that time. If I had taken it EASY, I would have been fine. I have handled insulin needles 100s of times (RIP my kitty) and never stabbed myself back then. Don't be afraid Joyce! Come join us in the dark side - we've had our shots!

Joyce, they do make bottles like out V4L ones that have the needles already in the end cap, so all you have to do is tip the bottle like you would dripping after you put the needle into the carto. I've found them on websites with materials for do-it-yourself/juices. they are around 7.50 each. that might be more better for you ? maybe ?

Years ago, I picked up a bottle like you're describing at a bait shop. You use it to inject air into an earthworm so that, combined with a sinker, it will float off the bottom of the lake. It's a great walleye technique for sandy/rocky bottoms.

Of course this has nothing to do with vaping, so I now send you back to your regular programming.

This thread cracks me up in some dark way. What on earth are people doing to stab themselves? I can understand this with a sewing needle since fingers need to be so close while working, but with a long hypo needle that doesn't require any fingers near the point? Just need to focus a little it seems. Put the kids and pets to bed, turn off the pro sports, put on the reading glasses, crank up the desk lamp, and...

1. open juice bottle
2. insert needle
3. pull back plunger slowly to fill syringe with juice
4. take soft end caps off a few cartos
5. carefully slide needle down inside edge to bottom
6. plunge slowly until filler looks wet on top
7. pull back on plunger to withdraw any extra juice

If you have the batt end open, you may notice a drop or two exit from that end. Just wipe clean. That will happen less once you get the hang of it. Eventually you can also experiment with lifting the needle up the side a bit while plunging or inserting it along the opposite side mid-plunge to distribute juice more evenly, but none of that's important to start.

Good luck. Definitely call 911 if you skewer two fingers together!
