Hey guys, I'm hoping you can answer a question of mine. (If this is not in the right forum, please forward it to the forum where I will get the most responses, I apologies in advance)

First off, I have a Taifun GT clone I bought from a fellow vaper the other day. First build and this thing is absolutely incredible! I love the flavour and texture to the vapour. Prior to building I removed the airflow tube and left the white insulator flush with the deck.
I've had no flooding issues of any kind and the vape has been fantastic.

Well I started wondering how high the coil should be from the air hole (for maximum flavour) I imagine I should keep it only 2mm above as you typically get better flavour the closer a coil is to the air hole. This led to me watching a few videos where the builders have there airflow tube sticking out about 2-3mm from the deck so it comes up close to the coil enabling them to build the coil higher up and aligned with the wick holes.

As soon as I saw this I realized having the airflow tube raised 2-3mm would decrease the chance of flooding even further! If for whatever reason juice got on your deck, it won't be able to seep into your air hole as the air hole tube is raised quite abit.

Now my question is this. Due to the fact that I only have the white insulator, would I be able to raise the white insulator tube 2mm above the deck to stop from any potential flooding while also directing airflow closer to the coil without building the coil down so low? Or would exposing a few mm of the white insulator cause it to melt.

Right now it's flush with the deck and I build my coil a few mm up from the deck to keep it close to the air hole. (Again I have not had flooding issues of any kind as of yet) But I know that if juice did seep into my tank, having that insulator tube stick out a few mm would prevent juice from leaking into the air hole. (Right now it's flush with the deck so all the juice has to do is move into the centre of the atty and bazzam you would have leaking... I just don't know how heat resistant this little white tube is.

Let me know, thanks guys!

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I run mine without the air tube. They don't leak. If it were to leak, a paper towel over the airhole and a quick blow will clear it out... but it hasn't been an issue. I personally wouldn't raise the insulator out of the deck. It could melt or give your juice a new and unpleasant taste.

I agree completely with Asbestos. I have four HCigar clones and one authentic. I have removed the air tube from all and have messed with them no further. Like you, I like the Taifun. The only comparable is the Protank after I build the coil myself. I have a Russian, a Kayfun and a mess of other stuff form various manufacturers that all collect dust.
