Hey, I resemble that remark....lol....and I never said it was EASY. I guess I didn't realize that some people think this is a competition or a race or something.....which it is not....

No, definitely not a competition or a race. Just wishing it would be that easy for me.

Really? I'd say congratulations! :toast: 75% is a BIG deal! Good job. (you should see me when I get to buy something at a 75% discount :rickroll:)

This is not a competition. If others can quit smoking in a snap, good for them. They are just sharing their enthusiasm.

If it makes you feel better, I am still smoking. Just dropped to 0.5% of what I used to smoke. Gradually...The down side of this success, is that I had to spend quite a bit of money and time to keep it satisfying and interesting. No savings for me!

You are doing great! Just be happy for those who have an easier time at it, and keep your own rhythm.

Feeling better?

Yes, better. I can soooo identify with the 75% off sale concept!

To be honest, I 100% am having issues with not smoking. I love my 510 kit, love it but my whenever I'm around my mom who still smokes analogs, I still have a hard time not asking for one of them. I don't beat myself up about it as I figure for the 1 cig I smoked that day, there were 24 that I didn't smoke so I'm doing good. I'm proud that I have made it this far and will keep on fighting the good fight. Lots O' Luck to you and I hope that you keep with using the ecig as it really is a huge benefit. Remember analogs cost a lot more than money.

Hi again.....please remember that every analog NOT smoked is a victory.....yay!!! I use some 100% vg juices also.....have you tried velvetvapors.com? Their vg juice is not thick at all but sure does produce a smooth very tasty vape with loads of vapor....... they have organic juices also....... yum!!

I think it is a good idea for you to up the nic so that the cravings start to subside.....once your physical cravings are taken care of by the nic, it will get much easier for you.

Hi. Thanks for the welcome. I'm currently using 6 and 11 mg in a 50/50 PG/VG mix. I was thinking maybe that isn't high enough, so the order I just placed was for 18 mg in a 33% VG blend.

That is on the low side. But I don't recall you mentioning what you smoked. What brand & strength?

In my case it was a PAD/1.5 PAD of Pall Mall Blue 100's (lights) and I needed 26 mg liquids to keep me leveled out. Two months in I'm staying at 26 mg and throw in 30 mg when I'm feeling cravings coming on.

If you haven't already done so you may want to consider a few more sampler bottles at 18 mg, 26 mg, and one maybe even higher than that. I'd have to say a fairly clear indicator of low nicotine levels is your desire to smoke hitting a plateau, even if you are trying to vape more of what you already have. If you feel any level is too much you can always do the obvious: Stop! and just put it down.

But looking back on the last two months I have to say I've never felt like I got too much nicotine from what I'm using. Everyone's needs are different and I think it's a good idea that you ordered the 18 mg stuff to try it out.

I can't say much that hasn't been said already, but I started out with a Blu. No way was I quitting on that thing. Then I moved on to a 510 and that was much better. I quit for a few months on that, and then started again, because, well, I guess because I'm a dumbass. I tried infiniti which is great, but couldn't quit. Now I'm trying a talon tank system, so hopefully that will work for me.

I soooo appreciate all the excellent advice and support I've gotten from the members here, BUT ... I'm going to poke my eyes out and eat dirt if I read one more post from someone who put the analogs down right away and never looked back. It's just not happening that way for me.

Sooooo, is it possible that we could use this thread just for those of us who haven't been able to make the transition that easily? Is that against the rules? Every time I read one of the 'I quit analogs right away' posts, I feel like a loser, even though the posters generally say not to worry -- it'll happen.

I've smoked for nearly 40 years. (If anyone wants to read my 'intro' post, here it is.) At one point, I was up to 2+ PAD. Last year, I managed to cut down to 1 PAD. I've had my RiVa about 2 weeks. Most days, I'm still smoking about 10 analogs a day. That's good -- it means I've cut my analog habit in half again, but I'm still not feeling like I can stop. I've ordered 6 more juice flavors hoping that I just haven't found the right flavor. Those should be in Monday or Tuesday. All my fingers and toes are crossed.

Who else is paddling along with me (or has paddled this canoe before)?
Quit bein' so hard on yourself! Everyone's process is their own! We would all like to be that one who puts down the nasties after their first vape. For the ones who can-fantastic! For those of us who have a different process-still fantastic! You have cut the nasties in half! Way to go, countrygirl!!! Ain't nothin' us texas girls can't do!!!

I know, right?

countrygirl1291, you are doing GREAT! I'd give my fine probably-porcelain-enrobed-by-now eyeteeth to get mine down that much!

I set out to do a gradual transition, as befits my Aged and Infirm status.

But I guess my heart's secret notion of gradual and my body's more pragmatic view have some differences.

It's been 3 weeks now, and I'm still getting used to it all. If you think it might be useful I did this blogrant about it: And Then Some Days, It Just All Goes To Hell

(you people are going to think I do nothing but pimp my blog. But its really simple ergonomics and bandwidth conservation. Why type the same thing twice?)

all these folks "quit smoking the minute I got my PV...
It's funny, Hoosier, those stories uplifted me sooo much, before I started, that even when Smart Shaman said I couldn't have that anyway, I still hoped that at least I would want it. I think I built up a sort of fantasy where the Marlboros would be this unpleasant taper-down chore.

Then, countrygirl1291, when the reality happened, those same stories wanted to make me discouraged, too. Not that I stopped being glad for the people it happened to, just annoyed that it didn't at least want to happen for me.

So here's what I hang onto now:

One day my friend Gel Toy (not his real name) commented that every half hour I spend doing Puffing Practice is one less Marlboro.

Little did he know that every half hour I spend doing Puffing Practice is several fewer Marlboros that half hour!

I'm pretty much just using e-cigs to reduce the amount I smoke now...
LOL AngusATAT, that's what I feel like I'm doing.

But soon as I pasted that in, what stuck out was this: "reduce the amount I smoke"

And that's a Good Thing (TM) and another one I'm going to remember When Dark Sides Attack.

So wow, Thanks! :)

IMO, your nic is probably too low. I think the learning curve is steep- it is nothing short of a pain in the behind to find the right juice that tastes yummy and has enough nicotine in it, the right vaporizer, etc. The fact that you've cut down by 75%? Is nothing to be discouraged about! In fact, it's totally worth celebrating. Sure, some people quit immediately- I did. First, I didn't smoke much- 10 cloves a day at the most- and hadn't smoked (er, re-started smoking) for that long, four years or so. And I had my husband breathing down my neck to quit. In fact he was angry enough that I'd started smoking again that he was starting to talk about leaving me. So, bear in mind every situation is totally unique. Just keep plugging away at at it and don't push yourself if you don't absolutely have to. Make vaping enjoyable and not a punishment- that'll make it more of a long term solution and not, I don't know, a hairshirt you have to endure, if you get my drift. Anyway, good luck- truly there's nothing to feel bad about!

Oh, and it seems really common that we vape more than most of us smoked. For some of us, that means their PV is a freaking pacifier- and even though I wasn't a heavy smoker, I am one of those. I've fallen asleep with it perched neatly on my chest and woken up snuggling it, for god's sake. Just suck on that thing as much as you need to, and if you get too much nic by doing that lower it some. (I use 6mg usually, due to the fact that I definitely vape more than I smoked!)

Sigh:blush: I bought a pack last night. Broke 2 atties in about 6 hours, left me with my least favorite left. Atties seem to only last me about 2 weeks, (cisco 306 LR 1.5) and I didn't have enough on hand, so I bought a pack last nite. I have some cartos on order, and I am going to Wind City meet today so I will pick up some atties there, but in the mean time, I now have this pack of smokes....taste horrible, but still gonna smoke them. I'm just not strong enough to fight it. :(

I keep trying, haven't had a real smoke since March I think, maybe April, I quit in Feb. It's all I can keep doing, because I really don't want to smoke, no matter how much I used to love it.

Hi. Thanks for the welcome. I'm currently using 6 and 11 mg in a 50/50 PG/VG mix. I was thinking maybe that isn't high enough, so the order I just placed was for 18 mg in a 33% VG blend. The flavors I'm using are EV's cherry, strawberry and butterscotch. I tried their vanilla, caramel, and Green USA (menthol), but didn't really like them much. I still have an RY4 Vanilla Caramel that I haven't tried yet. The juices I have on order are Throwback Vanilla Cola, Cups O' Peanut Butter, French Toast, Cherry Toot See, French Vanilla and Watermelon.

No wonder you're smoking. 6 wouldn't have made a blip in my nic use. That's like a patch and we know how useless those things are.

I started with 24 and 30. Still vape 24. My mom who smoked for 60 years started with 36 and she's currently down to 6-12.
Why are smokers afraid of nicotine? You have to have it to quit. A bottle doesn't last that long. When it gets to be too high for you, order lower.

I'm not surprised that you're struggling to stay off the analogs with such a low nicotine level for juice. Even the 18mg may not cut it for you. I was one who quit immediately after my first vape - but I started with 36mg juice and stayed there for several months before moving down to 24mg. Now I'm vaping 18-24-36mg depending upon my mood and the time of day.

I am one of those people who LOVED to smoke. I don't think that I would have been able to quit smoking if I hadn't had high-nic juice to get me through the process.

I do think that's the key. Keep it high until you're over the cigs then drop down.

I vaped for 3 months, and couldn't get past having 5-6 analogs a day. I liked vaping, but was never really satisfied with the experience. One day I found 2 cartons when I was cleaning my house, and just went back to analogs.

I was really DOWN on the entire vaping experience. When I started smoking it was love at first puff. A friend gave me a cigarette and we went out behind the school and smoked them. It was easy- I coughed a little, but I loved it.

I didn't have to watch youtube videos, practically become an electrical engineer, stalk the mailman, calculate dosages, keep track of endlessly charging batteries, and travel with an entire tackle box full of crap just to get my fix. Tobacco + fire- as easy as it gets.

Then I got a pretty miserable cold, and decided to pick up my PV again. It was still a PITA, but we'd been talking about having a kid, so I tried a little harder this time.

I kept track of everything I didn't like about vaping- and after spending too much money on a bunch of stuff I finally came to a workable solution. It took 36 mg juice in a bottomfeeder mod that takes a 2400 mah battery (REO Grand) to make me take the pack of analogs out of my purse.

It's still not all fluffy kittens and unicorns. I've had 3 analogs in the past 3 weeks, and really don't want them. EVERYTHING is better without analogs, but there's still adjustments I have to make. I'm still having issues with juice, and getting the right dosage- BUT I'm happy with my progress, and trying like heck not to go back. I'm hoping the stubbornness that kept me on analogs for so long will keep me off of them for longer.

Don't beat yourself up over it. Smoke when you want to smoke, and keep trying things until you find that right combination that works for you.

And don't be afraid of higher nic juice. If you get a nic OD it's not the end of the world- you just stop vaping for a few hours, and you'll be fine. It's about like drinking too much- unless you do something incredibly stupid, or have bad luck, you're probably not going to die.

All that about the higher nic level sounds like good advice. I guess I thought since I was smoking ultra lite analogs that the lower nic level would be right. So ... I'll try the 18 when it gets here next week and probably go ahead and place another order today for some small 24 and 36 bottles to see how I do with those.

Does the nic level make any difference in the taste? Would a 36 mg vanilla taste the same as an 18 vanilla?

I never tried 36mg nic to know for sure, but for me, 18mg tastes the same as 4mg flavoring-wise. But you will get more hit from higher nicotine. After getting used to the lower nic level like you have, myself I wouldn't up to 36mg all at once, either. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but you could very well find it suddenly too strong. A lot depends on how often/how much you vape. 5ml a day of 18mg liquid is still more nicotine than 1ml per day of 36mg.

What you smoked really doesn't have much to do with it. True, light cigs might have less nicotine but the mechanism of addiction is still the same. You're still just as addicted as someone that smokes regular cigarettes. It's the addiction you have to break, then you can mess with nicotine levels.

Higher nicotine tastes the same but there is definitely more TH. If you find it too harsh, maybe reduce the PG ratio. It may only take you a couple weeks. Like I said my Mom stayed on 36 for two weeks I think. She thought the juice was very harsh but once she stopped the cigs, she dropped way down.

Maybe have some high nicotine for when you really crave a cig or for those times when you have a cig.

A higher nic level can affect the taste somewhat and the throat hit will be stronger. A 36mg vanilla might have a slight peppery taste compared to 18mg, but you have to consider that it's twice the strength. Try the 18mg and see if it makes a difference in how you feel. Then move up to the 24mg if you need to. Don't be afraid to switch between two different strengths. You can always use the higher level for those times when you really want to smoke so you can get through them, then vape the lower strength for when you're calm and just want to vape. That's what I did and I'm starting to do this again. There isn't anything in the "rulebook" that says you can't do this.

If you find the nic level too high, you can always bring it down.
