And, I think I could have lived with being ignorant on this.

I'm watching The View. The author of a book called, "Oral Sex is the New Goodnight Kiss." It's a "wake up" call for parents of pre-teens and teens because there are so many girls who think nothing of this. One told the author that she thought holding hand was MORE intimate than oral sex. HUH?!?!?!?!

The author says that older boys and adult men get the girls into it by paying them or buying them things (yep, good old prostitution). The youngest interviewed by the author was 11 years old, and she sold her virginity for $1000.00. One young gal said, "after you do it once, it's nothing to do again." Just shaking my head...and I'm far from being a prude...but these girls are still JUST KIDS.

Hearing crap like this makes me glad I don't have kids.

This has been going on in some form or another for the last couple years. Young pre-teen and teenage girls think Oral sex is safe because there is no penetration. The light bulb in their heads don't light up when it comes to realizing having it in your mouth is just as dangerous as somewhere else. Yes, the parents need to talk to their children about sex, schools need to also update their sex-ed program. I know when I was in school there was nothing in our sex-ed class about Oral sex period much less teaching us that it was just as dangerous as intercourse. I think one thing that hasn't changed though over time is that girls that young think they need to do that to get a boy to like them.:(

I get really disgusted that people run around thinking and saying that STDs are not transmitted through oral sex. Of course statistics show that the risk falls much more heavily on the person in whose mouth the penis goes but that doesn't mean either is without risk. So anyway, young girls should understand that these boys or men are taking advantage of them since they (the girls giving fellatio) are the one who are at much greater risk of getting something from engaging in unprotected oral sex.

All this crap is on the parents! Teach your child right from wrong! I taught my kids these lessons and my daughter is passing them on.The boys are as much to blame as the girls. I tell my Grandson to respect a girl, even if she doesn't respect herself.
I ask him if he wants to go with a girl who has been with everyone? He says no! Then I ask him why a girl would want to be a boy who will be with anyone! That just paints her with the same brush as the other girls he's been with. People will think she's cheap because he is. (that was an eyeopener for him) I also tell him that he must insist on respect from his friends for his girl, no bad words or crude talk. When he is with her or away from her.
By the same token, I teach him not to let a girl take advantage of him..he has to have self respect too. If she behaves badly, it refects on him.
His last girlfriend told me he was so nice to her and never let her say anything bad about herself...maybe he is listening to us!
There are consequences for everything..such as STD's and fatherhood. His school teaches the mechanics of sex and all the labels. They give warnings about STD's..they also preach absinence. What they don't teach is good morals and values.
10 years from now these girls will be druggies and in shelters because they lost their self respect. The boys will still be looking for a nice girl (but have no way of loving her, because they still equate sex with happiness and love) meanwhile they are paying child support for their 3 kids born to parents who didn't love each other enough to wait or take precautions.
Stepping down off my soapbox..

Sorry, don't mean to make any judgements here but to me that's just disgusting, no way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe just because I'm a farm kid....don't know, but seems just so degrading and humiliating, ok, disrespectfull. Not the stuff love is made of. Generational maybe, I'll go with old-fashioned. Maybe that's it, we were taught sex had to do with love and respect and giving, not with duty or subserviance. Well, actually I guess we kids taught ourselves that, we never figured out how Mom and Dad ever had any kids!! But they did take us to church and about eight years of Saturday Bible school....could that have been it??

Kate - you are right. It is disgusting and sad that, that is what little girls are doing these days. When I was 11, that hadn't even entered my mind yet. Boys were almost beginning to not be gross to me anymore. But still were.

I was just starting to have my first crushes at that age. I know kids who had there first kids by the time they were 14.

I do too. There was one girl in my 8th grade class who was pregnant, then sadly when I was a freshman there were about 6 pregnant 14 year olds walking the halls of Freshman High. By the time we were sophomores and in the high school building, there was too many too count between all the grades.

I graduated HS in 1980 (ugh), and there was ONE girl in my school who got pregnant the whole time I was there. At the time, it was a huge scandal. She ended up dropping out of school, as did daddy. She married him, and the last I heard, they were living in her parent's basement, and he was working as a car mechanic. Greatttt......

She hasn't been heard from since (no mentions at reunions or in the alumni, etc.) Really sad. She was a smart girl and could have gone somewhere if she could have learned to 1) use birth control; or 2) keep her legs closed; or 3) find a boyfriend who wasn't a loser.

Today, she would have put her little sex trophy in the school-sponsored day care and gone on to get a certificate from a beauty school.

Hey - nothing against beauticians, but in my day, in Baltimore, that's just what knocked-up girls did. Kinda like Rizzo in Grease.

I'm so old.............

You are 9 years older then my youngest! You feel old? Geeze I have pantyhose older then you! My ex is going living with a girl your age! And don't get me started on Jennee and Ryle!

Yep, she has no idea about feeling old:D

Hmm, Ryle...hope she is OK...I don't recall seeing any postings from her since the ones about being let go.

Marg, I was allowed to have my ears pierced when I was in junior high, but cussing was not allowed. I was in college when I 'forgot' and said "damn" in front of my brother (who was 28 years older)...it was the only time I feared that my gentle brother might slap me...he was so mad!! Today, the former "f bomb" is so commonplace...I find that a bit sad.

HA! I got my first tattoo when I was 42...mind you, 42, clearly an adult. I thought my sister (who was 24 years older) was going to have a heart attack when she saw it!

 Well my mom had to sign for me when I got my first AND second tattoos. I was only 17 when I got my second. At least I had the sense though to get something I knew I could look at years and years later. My first one is fading though. I think I'm just gonna let it fade then get something else over it. Not that I don't like it, there is just something else I want now and I don't want tattoos all over my body. Though I do love them.
