Let me preface my post by stating that I have quit smoking after 20 years for 3 weeks!!! Woohoo!!!:D
I have a halo triton and need to replace the coil as my tribeca is starting to give off a burnt taste and is producing less vapor. I have cleaned the pieces, air dried but still no good. I am also thinking about switching the tank altogether.

1. Should I just splurge and get a fancier tank or is it not worth it on the triton?

2. Also, I understand that ohms relate to the resistance of the coil. The less resistance the more vapor and more resistance is less vapor, correct?
So a coil system with a smaller number ohms will give off more vapor?

3.Does the coil burn out more quickly and have to be replaced more often if it has less ohms?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

First off, congrats!

I'm not really familiar with the Triton tank, but if you're no longer satisfied with it, I can give you a few suggestions. Kanger makes lots of great products. The Kanger Aerotank is a quality tank with adjustable airflow. The Aspire Nautilus is another really quality tank.

As for resistance, you're correct. At the same voltage, a coil with lower resistance will produce more vapor. If you have a regulated battery, meaning you can't adjust the voltage, I would recommend a coil in the 1.8-2.2 ohm range because regulated mods are around 3.7 volts.

Your third question is a tricky one. A coil with lower ohms does get hotter so I assume there's more of a risk it will fail. However, I doubt that it's a noticeable difference. Coils are mass produced and a 1.8 ohm coil may end up lasting a month, while you may have a 2.5 ohm coil that fails within a few days.

I hope this helps

I started with a Halo Triton system and have been very happy with it. I've added some ego Twist batteries coupled with Kanger ProTank 3's because I needed the glass tanks for my cinnamon and citrus flavors but still use the Triton tanks daily for for non-tank cracker juices. Yes, the lower ohm coils will burn out a little faster but not by much. They're also more likely to burn your wick and/or your juice. If the wick does get burned some you don't necessarily have to replace the whole unit. Try pulling the wick out just a little bit to where there will be unburned wick contacting the coil. You'll have a lop-sided wick but it will still work fine. When that spot gets burned just pull it the other direction to another unburned area. You can at least double or even triple the life of your wick this way. Of course, if it's the coil itself that's burned out you'll have to replace the entire coil/wick unit. They usually run about $12.50 for a five-pack. Congratulations on the three weeks of no smoking. Keep up the good work!

A excellent rba tank is the kayfun or kayfun lite
This tank will provide you with EXCEPTIONAL flavor and a dense thick vapor. The build is easy and non complicated. No burnt hits or leaking. They run about 40 dollars but are very much worth it! As far as RBAS go it is much perfered. Ask around. You will see the kayfun will NOT Disapoint! !

So, I've just ordered 2 sets replacement coils 1.8-2.4 to see what the difference is for myself and which I like best. Too bad my local vape shop doesn't sell the halo proprietary coils so I will eventually go for one (or all) of the tanks suggested above since they are universal. For now I am trying to keep it simple!
Thanks for all the input guys - I don't feel like I am vaping in the dark, so to speak! :p
