IF it's working properly and actually calibrated to what they say, it SHOULD just tell you something like "LOW", and not fire.

Running too low on the coil resistance will, if it's NOT properly calibrated, can result in damage to the battery or the electronics from too high a current. That damage may be as benign as no longer working, or may be catastrophic.

While many regulated mods will fire a little below their "advertised" low range, it's generally not good or safe to push them that hard. Do you run your car at red-line all the time?
