Ok. I know when you start vaping that your taste buds change. But I've been vaping for 3 months now, never had a problem before and all of a sudden I can't taste things as usual. I had dinner tonight and basically couldn't taste it. Is this normal at this late in the game?
BTW my sense of smell has greatly improved from the get go.

Are you sure it's a lack of taste or not that it's tasting different simply because you no longer have that "smokey" taste in your mouth?

Are you sure you don't have seasonal or similar sinus allergies effecting you? That can greatly impact taste, even before the sinus gets packed. Also -- what have you been vaping today, with what hardware, at what voltage and what PG/VG/Nic content?

For the record, I have heard it stated by others (though I personally did not experience that long of a shift) that the transition after quitting smoking can indeed take several months -- but it is a gradual process, towards the 'increased taste receptor ability' direction, not the other way.

No, I don't have allergies or sinus problems. I'm just wondering if I might be having a delayed reaction because I didn't experience this before.
I read about brushing your tongue when brushing your teeth and I've been doing that for the last couple of days.
Anyhow, if it is related to vaping I just hope it doesn't last long.

Thanks for the link. It may explain what's going on with me. Especially the last paragraph.

"It is reported that the use of large amounts of menthol-containing e-liquids can result in the deadening of taste for a period, with the result that all refills become tasteless for a while or until menthol use is reduced or ceased. Cinnamon is also implicated.

Menthol may or may not be the cause since many report that all eliquids lose their flavor for a period. Another factor is the change in taste perception, mainly a loss of taste, caused by smoking, together with its return after tobacco cessation, and a possible period when taste goes dead for a time during the first few months off cigarettes even for those who have not used menthol."

24mg... thats pretty hefty. Did you by chance suck some juice through today?

The brushing your tongue thing is not a bad idea -- but it is essentially scraping the top-most layer off the tongue to expose receptors more openly. That + the high concentration nic vape might very well be a possible cause. Try drinking water pretty hefty for the next day or 2 and see if it persists.

I know exactly what it is because I've experienced the same thing. You have "vapor tongue" it's because you have been vaping one flavor from one company. I was vaping a tobacco menthol 18mg since the first day of vaping for two straight months. Loved it the one day bam! I wake up and my juice tastes terrible! I panicked and drove 45 minutes to my b&m ( I had 5 30 mls of this juice!!!) they tested and retested and all said my juice was fine. It was me. And they were right .. Everything tasted off or I couldn't taste certain things at all. Somet

Sometimes a strong cinnamon juice helps .. But mostly just time your tastebuds will come back. Mine took about ten days.. I thought it never would. So be patient exercise good oral hygiene and most important drink lots and lots of water.

I've been using 18mg for the past month now. Sorry about that corruption. The 24mg was 1 month ago. And believe me, I haven't been getting a high vape from the cheap clearomizer I've been using..lol. That will be replaced this coming week. Thanks for taking the time to help.

I have that issue occassionally, where nothing tastes right for a day or two. It goes away. A lot of us smoked for years. It takes a bit for the damage to reverse itself.

Tongue is poor taster anyway, most of our sense of flavor comes from our nose. infact 80% of our sense of taste and smell comes from nose because our nose has more receptors. Without our nose or sense of smell, our taste will be limited to salty, sweet, sour and bitter. Did you have hot juice spitting into your tongue from your atomizer? It might numb your tongue for awhile but it's more resilient than you think. You'll be alright in a day or two.

Thanks for all the advice peeps. LV SusieQ, I think you hit the nail on the head. I've been using the same "mint" juice from day one. I just ordered a new juice supposedly a Newport tasting juice made in the US. Wonder if that will help.

susieq6000, I agree. I've smoke for over 30 years. My doctor told me that my body would start healing 10 years after I quit smoking!

FYI,if I don't stay properly hydrated (emphasis on properly)I can't even taste e-juice. My food will even taste bland.
