Hi,
I am a relatively new vaper and I am hoping to find out if my expectations for the taste of the juice are too high.

I started vaping about 3 weeks ago when my daughter sent me an e-gic starter kit. The short story is the nicotine was too high but I have gotten that worked out.

The first juice she sent that had the too high nic level tasted heavenly. It was cinnamon/caramel. It was pretty sweet and I could actually taste the cinnamon and caramel very well. Almost like eating a cinnamon roll. But I was not able to vape it because of the nic.

So in my quest to find the right nic level I went to the B&M near me and tried probably 20 flavors but I couldn't taste them. I only got a very slight hint of a smell with just a few. I was able to taste the cinnamon and purchased it in a lower nic level. As it turns out it was still a little too high for me.

I have about a dozen bottle of different flavor samples (0mg) that I like the smell of but can't taste and I have been using them to dilute the 2 flavors that the nic is too high and waiting on some juices I ordered from Heather's Heavenly Vapes and Virgin Vapors.

I received the new juice from HHV and I want to let it steep but just for kicks I tried the peach this morning and I can not taste it. It smells wonderful.

I guess I expect in your face flavor. I want it to taste like I am eating a hard candy or like I just bit into a peach. That was my experience with the first juice I tried. REAL TASTE.

Am I expecting too much or could it be the dreaded Vapers Tongue? If that is the case why have I always had it? everything after the first taste of juice I ever had just pales in comparison.

Sounds like it could very possibly be vaper's tongue. I have never tried HHV's peach, but I have a lot of her fruits and they're very flavorful.
Do you still have the original juice that your daughter sent you? I realize the nic is too high but maybe you could just take a puff or two to figure it out? If you can't taste that, all signs point to vaper's tongue.

It could be vapor's tongue. Some Vendors offer the option of "extra shots" of flavoring in their juice. Make sure you're drinking lottsa water as dehydration can seriously impact our taste buds.
I gargle once per day with fresh lemon and water to remove the buildup of PG/ VG in the oral area. You could also try sucking on a lozenge to get the saliva glands going.
Best of Luck.

Ok I just tried the original flavor and I definitely taste the Cinnamon but not the caramel or the sweetness. It is a completely different experience than the first time.

So if we say Vaper's tongue, why wouldn't I have tasted any of the flavors the fist time I went to the store to try them? at that point I had only had 2 or 3 puffs total from the e-cig my daughter sent and that was several days before I went to the store and now I still don't taste the flavors.

Did the original 3 puffs at the too high nic cause the vaper's tongue?

It has been a long 3 weeks and still not off the analogs cuz I can't seem to get the vaping thing right. Everyone else seems to enjoy it. But I'm not at that point yet even though I want to be.

I know the analogs cause some loss of taste but I was smoking a pack a day when I took that first puff from an e-cig and now I am smoking only 2-3 cigs a day.

If you're not tasting sweetness then this is definitely vaper's tongue.
I can't tell you how or why it happens (nobody can).

2 weeks into vaping I just suddenly realized my juice didn't taste sweet and later that same day I could taste NOTHING. Seriously, nothing. Might as well have been air.

I just vaped menthol (I could at least get the cooling sensation from this). Then my taste reappeared just as suddenly as it disappeared... two weeks later.
People will tell you all sorts of crazy remedies too.. like chew on chiles, drink vinegar, etc..
None of it works.

Drink a lot of water, gently brush your tongue a few times a day and have patience, my friend.

Been there and I know how disappointing it is, but it WILL get better.

Thank you.
I guess it gives my new juices plenty of time to steep. I am definitely going to mix up my little samples with the cinnamon/caramel 24mg and vape that until my taste comes back.

No need to waste the good juice on vaper's tongue.

Cinnamon Flavored Nicotine...I put that @#*% in everything! lol

LOl, yep.. an excellent time to use up crappy juice!! I added a few drops of a super strong menthol I have to everything that was previously unvapable and that did the trick. I normally don't vape menthol often but I now have a 30ml bottle of "Arctic Wolf" in case the VT ever comes back. Arctic Wolf will melt you face off.

The other silver lining is .. when your taste comes back it's the most glorious, delicious day ever!

I had very high expectations of flavors myself and I like really strong ones. I have been somewhat disappointed but still better than analogs. Now, a hot cinnamon or a strong mint/menthol, these are very potent flavors that you WILL taste normally. They also have a strong natural throat hit. Sweet and Sour, are another two extremes to keep the taste buds alive.

this does not sound like a case of vapors tongue. I feel the same way about my juice, i want flavor and lots of it. Many people like a more subtle vape. Everyone is different. I have tried alot of juices from different venders, and 80% of them have not been strong enough for my liking. You just have too keep trying new venders and flavors till you find the ones you like.

Zeus juice is by far the most flavorful vendor i have tried. I would suggest checking them out. I have found 1 or two flavors from other vendors that were strong enough, or still enjoyable even though the flavor level isnt super high. Start getting some sample packs from venders, hope for the best, and reorder the ones you like.

Go to CVS and get a bottle of Glycerin. The label should include "USP."

Add equal parts of 24mg liquid and USP Glycerin and you have 12mg flavored nic liquid.

It is as safe to use as what you have now, but it won't help the flavor fatigue issue. Cinnamon flavors are known to cause that.

A trick I learned, and use, which I feel works very well... grab some coffee beans, grind them up, wrap the fresh ground in a paper towel and smell for 15 minutes or so. Just be careful not to inhale the grounds, probably would hurt. This is especially useful if you can't taste a flavor you normally taste and enjoy.

Also, do your very best to remain hydrated. Consciously increase your water intake. Vaping will dehydrate you and this can in turn cause flavor loss, among others. I believe losing your sense of taste is also a side-effect of quitting analogs and a common symptom among new vapers.

Your sense of taste will come back eventually. I've gone through it myself and all you can really do is wait it out like a storm. When you can finally taste again, try to find 2 or 3 juices of different flavors that you enjoy. That way when your tastebuds get bored with one flavor you can switch to the next.

Good luck!
