Got two of the iStick TC 40 watt mods from rockymountainvapor a couple days ago. Price was @37.00 but with the code SUMMER15 (25% discount) the device only cost $27.75 with free shipping. They only have grey and silver at present but expect to get other colors very soon. Also got silicone covers from sweet-vapes for $3.95 ea.

Really like the size.....slightly larger than the 30w which I find perfect. Got the TC 40w mainly for the 2600mah capacity. I do not expect to do much Temperature Control vaping. Found my vaping heaven with a subtank mini RBA built to 1.5 ohms on a 30, 40 or 50 watt iStick. The performance of the subtank mini RBA is just outstanding. Can direct lung hit or mouth-to-lung hit and the flavor is the best that I have experienced in 20 months of vaping.

Will be ordering two more when they get the black ones in.

The only negative I found is the display is on the dim side. Kind of like the original iStick 20 w's. Overall, the TC 40 is just perfect for my simple style of vaping.

MVS has black in stock for 29.99. I also got the sleeve from Sweet Vapes and it looks real slick. I hadn't noticed the display but you are right it is slightly dimmer than my other mods. My display is about the same brightness as my istick30 but looks dimmer because it is blue and my 30 is green. I have the yellow and the white evic and have the same issue one is blue one is green.

Glad a few people responded to this thread. The feedback was so limited prior, glad to see I'm not the only one enjoying the device. For the price it is hard to beat.

I known it's there too haha. My subtank mini leaves the tiniest gap, like I could maybe slip a piece of paper under it but it does make my OCD hurt a bit.

When you say jumps out of TC do you mean it goes to wattage mode on you? Does it go back to TC after the puff? I had that issue with my evic vt with my mutation x v3 for a few days but it went away. I don't know if it was my build or something else but it was frustrating.

I have never experienced it jump out of TC mode. But when I vape, I almost always get the "temp protection" warning on the display, which according to the manual means it has gone over the set temperature. It will bounce between the "temp protection" message and the regular temp display. If I didn't pay attention to the screen, I probably wouldn't notice a problem. It seems to maintain the temp I enjoy, and I don't notice a fluctuation in vape temperature.

FWIW, I'm a MTL vaper and I've been using 28ga nickel spaced coils in a Lemo Drop. Maybe the temp protection warning has to do with my MTL vaping, I don't know.

That is normal, it maintains your temp by pulsing the power on and off. It heats to the temp then pulses off until the air from your puff cools the coil back down. It is a bigger problem when you MTL because you don't pull as much air through the coil as the lung hitters.

I think the gap is intentional. I think it's for toes that whined about the top being marred or scratched by tanks

Makes sense, my sigelei 150 is pretty scuffed up from the tanks on it. My gap is barely noticeable and I guess it is better than the scuffs. The top isn't painted so I never really noticed but looking at my iStick 30 it is a bit scuffed up.

Haven't seen much talk about these. Was everyone hoping they would blow up so that they had something to talk about?

I got one a few days ago and overall it seems solid.

Only issue I've had is resistance reading a bit low (.02 below my other mods reading) and temp seems to read low (need to fire at 500+ watts where I use 420-460 on my evic.).

On the plus side it's almost the same size as the 30, charges fast and hits as well as my evic VT once I find the right temp.

Anyone else have one and have any thoughts?

For $30 it's a cheap way to play with TC. My only complaint (which has already been mentioned) is the OLED display is incredibly dim. I checked with the vendor and they said that's just how they are. Other than that, it's a nice stealthy little mod. Even if they did put the fire button on the wrong side.

I wonder if this varies by mod? I have an IPV mini 2 that is incredibly dim ( I know this isn't' the norm, because it was a replacement). My Istick screen is bright.

Here's a pic of a iStick 50W compared to the iStick TC 40W:

My Evic-vt's are the same way. I think they either got batches of displays that are slightly different colored or the tinted screens are different batches and dim or change the intensity more.

For the price I suppose they're worth the gamble. Personally I'll never buy anything electronic from eleaf, just too flaky for me.

As far as TC goes, I find it kind of pointless for tanks, I just don't get dry hits and they are a non issue for me on them. For RBAs however, I'll occasionally get a hit approaching dry and its annoying, for those I tend to prefer TC builds if the RBA can handle single coils.

I've really enjoyed mine, I've only used it in TC mode. I just ignore the temp value and adjust for taste/cloud.

The dim screen in bright sunlight and battery indicator is the only items I dislike about the device. I find it difficult to tell how much is left in the battery. Since I'm normally rotating multiple mods I ether just toss the TC40 on the charger when it appears 'low' or it gets a nightly charge. It does seem to charge as fast or faster than an 18650 then again, I've never ran it down to the 'low battery' message.

Nice little mod. I'd purchase another one. (that is, if I did not already have "to many" mods to begin with) ;)

Thanks for the input. I'm putting one in my cart. At less than $30 it's like getting another iStick - the TC and bigger mAh are a bonus.

For those who already have the iStick 40 - do you find the battery runs out quickly? I tend to chain vape. And if it does run out quickly does it take very long to recharge? Thanks.

It runs out a bit quicker than my istick 30 or my kbox mini but battery life isn't terrible. It charges very fast.
