TC not working? eVic basic

Hello, for checking tc mode performance I tried to burn the cotton in ss316 mode.
I used cubis .6 coil head at 20 watts in tc mode.
I holded fire button til all the juice was gone and burnt smell started.

Why didn't it stop giving the fact it was in tc mode?

I would think 15-35 watts @ about 500F might provide some workable vapor.

My question was more like does my issue means that TC isn't working properly.

TC cuts off at whatever temp you set.
WHAT temp did you set? If you set 600f... well, it will heat your coil to 600f (and burn your wick).
Did you lock your Resistance?
Do you have pre-heat enabled?
What firmware is the Basic using?

I know when I'm using SS in my pro tank 4, I'm running 355-380 for TC.
