i'm using regular tea bags for carts is there really a better method

Regular or pyramid? There's a difference - and the pyramid are better.
(Although I gave up on filler and just drip baby yeah! )

It's the 'pyramid tea bag'. This link will show you what the boxes look like. Hope this helps. Some people use the Blue U Filter by marineland. And others use the polishing pad filters made from fluval. Both are found in the aquarium section of local pet stores. Good Luck.

One word-Cartomizers! Solves all the cartridge woos and then there's always direct drip

I like the HIPING method. You take the filler out of the cart, cut off 1/4 of it, fill the cart about 3/4 of the way with liquid and then put in the 1/4 piece that you have cut off.

I originally used a paper Lipton tea bag because I couldn't figure out all the acronyms this place uses.
I thought PTB stood for Paper Tea Bag.
That worked OK, but there was an underlying paper taste that I could only attribute to the bag.
Once I found out what the 'P' stood for, I ran all over town trying to find the Pyramid version. I use the "Made Easy" version that Kristen initiated, and I'm forever grateful.
I also use cartomizers, but they only seem to work well on HV <---(there I go with the acronyms - High Voltage), so I take them to work for use on my 5v pass-through.
