Is it like most things flavorful- You love it or hate it- or is there a secret to it that I am not getting?

I read that BackBrew was fabulous, and that you would probably need to let it steep for a while. I bought 2 flavors about a month ago, and I can't get past the bla/ick.

Full reveal:

  • I got 8mg- this may effect the taste. I didn't know much at the time.
  • I got a coffee mocha and a tobacco flavor
  • Coffee Mocha *did* mellow into something resembling coffee mocha, but is truly about 89% flavorless unless you are really trying it will slip past you. This could be the low nic, or the nature of the flavor- intentionally smooth"?
  • The tobacco is horrific. It has sit, steeped, rested and been shelved and yet, it is still awful. I can't attribute the awful to the low nic because its not a subtle awful. As a comparison- I find "desert ship" to be awful. this is just that kind of awful.
So, here is my question (s)... do fans of backwoods brew find certain flavors rock, while others they would truly go elsewhere for?
Do you find that BB changes significantly over time- if so What is that time? days/weeks/months?
What am I missing in the big picture here?

I agree to an extent. I bought some Applewood, Cassablanca, Coffee Mocha, and Caramel Capp. The only one I am digging so far is the Applewood. At first it was OK, but it has grown on me. The cassablanca still tastes like chocolate tobbaco (not good chocolate tobbaco). I'll let it steep more.
The coffee flavors are not great, but are smokable.
I suggest letting them steep another couple weeks. If they still don't hit the spot, sell them here on ecf. Someone will buy them (especially if you tell them they are already 4-6 weeks steeped).

Heh, I have some 555 from BWB that I swear tasted like I took a can of glade lemon furniture polish and shot it into my mouth....it's been sitting for close to 2 months now. The color has totally changed, and the smell is less severe, but I'm still not vaping it...I'll give it another try soon, but it may just end up on the trading block...so I know what you're saying...

on the other hand, my applewood, and Casablanca from there are very good tasting to me, and the wifey loves the candy bar.

I purchased BWB's applewood, cherry tobacco, maple tobacco, vanilla bean, and waffle about 3 weeks ago. The vanilla bean and waffle are pretty good and I'll vape them till they're gone. The applewood, cherry tobacco, and maple tobacco just don't do it for me. They all taste like mildewed wood to me. I bought them after reading so many rave reviews and was quite disappointed. Although the vanilla bean and waffle are good, my regular supplier produces some that are equal or better. I'll not likely order from BWB again.

I guess I can't help answer your questions, but I'm in agreement on the flavor of the tobacco, yuck.

Taste is really a subjective thing. Even people vaping the same thing describe it differently. Sometimes the flavor you're expecting, maybe by the name doesn't match up with the way you think it will.

My sister tried my favorite vape and said it reminded her of white shoe polish. She's a little weird, but to me it tastes like mint.

I don't think you'll get knocked out of the chair by BWB juices, but they're pretty unobjectionable. My all day vape is the very first juice I ever tried. First time I tried it I thought, I can live with that. And I have been.

Which tobacco flavor is horriffic? I don't vape tobacco flavors but the BWB Virginia I could probably vape if I added something to it, like mint or a fruit flavor.

People looking for strong, explosive flavors will not be impressed with BB's juices...that's a fact. They are definitely understated and subtle. But to me and a lot of folks that's a good thing. That's precisely what I like about them. Cigarettes don't have a strong overpowering flavor, it's the slight variations of each brand that distinguishes one from another.

There's not a ton of flavor in BB's juices, but it's just the right amount for me, and what is there makes for a wonderful vaping experience. I love Don's tobacco mixtures.

I have tried most of the BWB flavors. I vape Backo every day all day my hands down favorite. I also like Virginia, apple wood and hunters blend the cafe mocha and espresso are very good in my opinion.

Malty and Malty toffee are middle of the road for me I don't particularly like or dislike them.

Smoke, I find too smokey, Cassablanca tastes of bitter cocoa a flavor I am not fond of. The 555 has a strong nutty, floral/gin flavor again flavors I do not like so I don't vape them.

I have Adirondack and Maple Tobacco on the way, I can't wait to try them.

I let all BWB flavors steep at least a week preferably two past its born on date and I love most of the flavors.

I have several of the BWB flavors and I like them all except Watermelon. I have had it almost a month, so I suppose there's hope it will get better. I really can't blame Don though, because I have ordered a couple of other fruits from different vendors and I don't like them either, so I think fruit is just not my flavor. I love both the Malty and the Malty Toffee. At first, I didn't like the caramel cappuccino because it had too strong of a coffee taste. Three weeks later, I can taste more caramel and tobacco and the bitter coffee taste has mellowed. Now, I like it very much. I have vanilla bean with a born on date of 4/13. I still can't taste much vanilla, though it produces plenty of vapor and feels smooth. The BWB menthol strong is amazing. It's enough menthol to clear my sinuses. Lots of TH and vapor. It's my favorite when I'm really craving an analog and a good 1st vape of the morning.

I don't even sample BWB for thirty days. Shake it every few days. You can always leave the cap off for a bit on it. Helps with any perfume smell. Most flavorings have alcohol in them, so leaving the cap off allows it to evaporate. 24 hours is all it should need.

I think melonbacco is a better flavor than the watermelon. The MB is a deep melon tobacco. The watermelon I got was a little on the subtle side. Melonbacco is anything but subtle.

@ Swedishfish: - how long did you let your watermelon steep? It tastes bitter - more like alcohol/perfume to me than watermelon. My born date is 4/8.

Really? Mine is on the slightly sweet side. My born date is 2/2/, I don't vape it a lot. But it wasn't bitter at all even when I first got it. That sounds really odd to me.

you know when you listen to music, how different songs still have a hint of "something" to it, may it be the sound of the guitar or drums etc....you can tell every one of their songs kind of "resemble" their other songs, kind of?
ok my explanation isnt going over real well but dangit, i understand what im trying to say and thats how it is with the liquid vendors! lol

What are you vaping it on? Some setups deliver more flavor than others. Like many people have complained about lack of flavor with tanks. And are you smelling the vapor? You need to smell the vapor of ecigs. You tongue can only taste sweet, salty, bitter, sour and umami (MSG)

Backwoods Brews excels at unique hand-mixed all day vapes. It is not the place to go if you are looking for knock your socks off flavor. It a place where people find well-balanced and complex juices they can vape all day. I have probably bought over 100 juices yet my first 2 all-day-vapes were both found at BWB.

I've noticed I'm not a big fan of most of the flavors. Have a biting taste that reminds me of pepper or jalapeno or something. Throat hit is too harsh. So many people love them though. I'm a huge fan of Malty Toffee, but I have a drawer full of other flavors I should PIF or something. They are getting old age-wise.
