Are these the 3V batteries that have all of the problems I've been reading about? I've avoided 3V batteries of any kind, after reading (skimming, really) a few posts about people having trouble with them going dead if they aren't "matched". I really don't remember the exact cause, something about the electronics inside.

I've read that a lot of people have had issues with them tripping when used in certain mods, especially the Silver Bullet. I'm currently using them for dripping with a regular Joye 510 and haven't had any problems yet.

I think it's more of an issue with depending on the atty and the voltage the amp draw versus what the max drain rate of the batteries are...simply stacked at 6V or even 7.4V with a 510 atty the amps being drawn are far exceeding the max drain rate of the batteries and tripping the PCB's over discharge protection..
worst case senario kinda thing...amp draw at 6V (6.4V fully charged under load) with a joye 510 atty is a 2.78A draw..
the yellow tenergy LiFePo4 max drain rate is <.55A
these blue tenergy (900mAh) is about <.9A

for the record max drain rate on a battery is figured by taking the mAh rating times the C rating and then dividing by 1000..
C rating is assumed to be 1 unless otherwise stated..ultrafires are usually 1.5C, AW LiFePo4 are 10C...I think those cover the only 3V CR123a size batteries available...

Tenergy does state that there charger should be used because of the chemistry in the Batts match the charging. I have an ultra fire 3v-3.6v charger and it doesnt seem to charge them properly

According to the supplier you should only use the Tenergy batties with the Tenergy charger

Certainly you must always charge the Tenergy LiFEPO4 batteries with the proper charger due to the different chemistry.

As to the protected CR123As that this thread was originally about, I am not 100% sure. if in doubt, always use the charger that the manufacturer specifies.

I have 8 of the blue Tenergy 900mAh CR123A batteries. 4 of them just outright do not work on my GGTS. And the other set of 4 do (kind of) work. When I press the button on my GG it works sporadically. Meaning it will turn power the atomizer then stop after a few seconds till I depress and repress the button. This goes on over and over and over. It is only with these batteries for me. I have tried unprotected 3 volt CR123A batteries as well as 18650 batteries with no problem in my GG. It is just specifically the Tenergy 3.0V protected CR123A 900mAh batteries

This may actually support something I've read about the protection circuitry choking on specific atomizers (I believe it was the 510). What atty were you using?

I am using 510 atomizers from TotallyWicked. I buy the 5 pack of them. I have a good battery tester and have tested all 8 of them and they are all charged. But for some reason those 4 don't work. Actually a funny thing. The 4 that don't work, well once in a while, if I unscrew the bottom of my GGTS to the point that it is EXTREMELY loose, then the atomizer will sometimes power on, but if I tighten it even the SLIGHTEST bit it stops working again, strange. If anyone can recommend another brand of protected 3 volt CR123A batteries I would very much appreciate it

Without a true battery analyzer you won't know the condition of the batteries. They can show full charge with no load but fail under load.

If you have a voltmeter try testing the voltage at the atomizer connector on the TS. See if it is consistent. If not, you may have a dirty or mis-adjusted switch.

You might also try a new atomizer just to make sure.

ok...I had bought 3 HV atomizers from here...
High Voltage (HV) Joye 510 Atomizer
I just tried one with one of the 4 Tenergy batteries that had never worked in my GGTS before, and with that atomizer, the batteries work. Strange, perhaps it is the 510 atomizers from TotallyWicked that for whatever reason don't work with it at 6.0v
