what battery device do you use?
Many such as SVD, MVP, iTaste, Provari, Vamo and a host of others let you check the ohms of the coil. If it doesn't throw an error its good.
There are also dedicated ohms checker boxes you can buy but that is more for people who build their own coils.

do you happen to own a multimeter?
You can set it to measure ohms, put the positive lead on the center pin of the 510 and the negative lead on the threading of the 510
(this is assuming a coil head is screwed into the base)
