I'm still waiting to see you guys on there :) It says Zapp and Roger was last online 5 hours ago, which means he must have gotten off just as I got home from work

It will say that anytime I get off work and fire up my PC...auto-login and all that. I work 7 days straight 12 hours and off 7 days straight so starting Friday I'm ready to go fraggin'. Hopefully see y'all then.

I just use a custom startup that creates a listen server with a Dosbox and idles in the back ground. Then when I'm done I start up normally and collect the items. The setup I use is:

-textmode -nosound -nopix -novid -nopreload -nojoy -sw +map "cp_dustbowl"

Can I just use that as a launch option? You mentioned dosbox, should I open hl2.exe with those parameters in DosBox?

I just signed up for a Cisco cert (CCNA) for this Thursday; wish me luck :D That's part tongue-in-cheek, because I think I'll run circles around it, but it's supposed to be challenging

Yeah just stick that line into startup options under properties for TF2, it will launch a command box (Yeah Dosbox is a different program should have realized that when I typed it). Then just edit it out after you are done idling. When you launch it normally your items will be waiting.

GL on your Cisco cert I have friends in IT and I know that is no easy test. :)

Baaaaaah I just barely failed the test  taking it again next Wednesday. 100% on security sections, though :) Just very poor on antiquated protocols and terminology

Thanks a bunch for the command line parameters; its a lot less resource-hogging than running the graphic version for idling. I've seen tf2.exe at 900Mbytes in the RAM while windowed and dragged off-screen (probably memory leaks?)
