I think your going to have to switch to FlavourArt flavors. That is what I had to do. :(

Are we sure that FA flav's don't have acetoin/acetyl propionyl? I've looked into their ClearStream info which only mentions testing for diacetyl, not the other diketones. Have I missed any posts on here speaking to this?

Btw great idea starting a thread of custard-free recipes :)

FlavourArt properly labels their flavors on-site and the majority of their vendors do as well. On their site, you'll see a warning under the flavor description that states: This flavor contains Diacetyl and/or related diketones. Not suitable for vaping. For further details see diacetyl page in Vape Heaven section.

They're very proactive and do their best to keep everything in check from my own personal experience. If you've tasted or vaped a flavor with Acetyl Proprionyl or Acetoin in the mix, it's easy to spot. The flavors I've tried from FlavourArt do not contain the buttery / vanilla notes that, for instance, would be in some of the flavors from TFA, such as French Vanilla Deluxe, Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, etc.

YES, we do know that Flavour Art e-cig flavoring line does not contain any diacetyl or related diketones. They began this process over 3 years ago, called ClearStream: Our contribution to research | ClearStream by FlavourArt

Here's an excerpt to answer your question:
"And in light of calculated concentrations that a vaper might be exposed to from heavily flavored e-liquids, we have reformulated, at considerable expense, all of our Vape Heaven flavors to be completely free of any added diacetyl and/or related diketons. The general application flavors that cannot be created without them, but are perfectly safe for food, such as Butter, yogurt, etc are being clearly marked as “Unsuitable for Vaping”. These should not be used in flavoring e-liquid, nor applied as a “top note” in blending more complex vapable flavors. We feel that this should be a matter of informed choice."

More information is on their website. Start here: Flavourart - La sartoria degli aromi, aromi alimentari e per sigaretta elettronica made in Italy pick 'shop' and then 'electronic cigarette' to see the flavors for vaping. If you happen into the 'kitchen Magic' section, it shows ALL their flavorings. Those that are not e-cig flavors say this: "This flavor contains Diacetyl and/or related diketones. Not suitable for vaping. For further details see diacetyl page in Vape Heaven section"

In fact, FA has gone a step beyond testing just for these ingredients. They are the ONLY manufacturer to study cytotoxicity of the actual vapor from their flavorings. Here's an excerpt: "Moreover, in absence of guidelines or legal frameworks related to safety of ecigs and e liquids, we have started a massive cytotoxic analysis program, comparing, in vitro, the toxicity on upper airways cells, of 15 puffs from standard cigarette, vs 120 puff of flavored Heaven Juices." Details with numerous links here: E sig e sicurezza - Supporto e Informazioni Risultati della Ricerca - FlavourArt - La sartoria degli aromi

Cellular toxicity studies of the individual flavors are somewhere in those links; I can search for it if you can't find it.

As you follow their links, you sometimes arrive on pages all in Italian, such as links to the Italian labs that conduct their studies. Just copy the url and go to translate.google.com to translate the page to English.

Flavour Art's testing is absolutely unmatched in the industry.

I have one for you, a Key Lime Pie with variations. I use much smaller percents than you, but my ratio is one part Key Lime to two parts Cheesecake Graham Crust. It's delicious and simple. Instead of just Key Lime, you can use Sweet Raspberry, Coconut Candy (not plain Coconut), or any combination. They all go great together. Just add twice as much Cheesecake Graham Crust as your total fruits.

TFA's website lists all those flavors as free of those ingredients.

unfortunately im seeing now (must be new because i have these flavors and wouldnt have bought them) that cheesecake with graham crust, cheesecake, even graham crust and pie crust all have trace notes of these chemicals. even coconut candy :\ super bummed but its got me searching elseware (Flavourart) for substitutions. so far have found everything i need besides any type of cheesecake flavor from them, or a pie crust, or graham crust. for that im a little bummed cuz it killed a few for recipes of mine untill i can find a vendor who has done testing to prove they have save forms of these flavors.

TFA does not list acetoin or acetylpropionyl in either Cheesecake (Graham Crust) or in Coconut Candy.

Here's the components in Coconut Candy: Perfumer's Apprentice
and here's Cheesecake Graham Crust: Perfumer's Apprentice

The other two coconut flavors and plain Cheesecake do, but not these two. Did you see conflicting info elsewhere?

whoops that is my bad. i printed out the entire lists and thought those were on it. looks like i was mistaken with regular cheesecake as well as coconut and coconut extra. Puts a little smile on my face atleast i can still vape some sort of cheesecake. not sure why cheesecake would have it but not cheesecake with graham crust?

Yeah...cheesecake and graham cracker both have but when its combined it doesn't. ...confused and not sure I 100% trust that info.

TFA Cheesecake Graham cannot be flavor-matched using their plain Cheesecake with Graham Cracker added. It tastes different. I've always thought Cheesecake Graham tastes coconutty. A whiff of Cheesecake makes my stomach flip, and I've never yet gotten that effect from a flavor that didn't have "custard notes". I can smell and vape the Graham version without that effect.

Their Coconut and Coconut Extra don't affect my stomach but taste moldy or musty to me, even in tiny percents. But I can use their Coconut Candy - so I believe they're different formulations, not just extra sweetness in the candy one.

I'm interested if others who have tried both cheesecakes or all the coconuts get the same impression that I have. Flavor collectors, what do you think? I'll admit I might have fooled myself a bit as justification to keep using them.

There are other flavors without component info yet on TFA's website that flip my stomach, so I expect the list to grow as they keep testing.

HIC...I see what you are saying. I tried making a banana pudding using the cheesecake one time and it made me hurl. It was like I was vaping rotten cheese socks...this was before I knew what custard notes were. I also can sense this in a fruity mix that contains a small amount of coconut extra...it was good and my wife loves it but there always seemed to be something wrong...like a thick feeling...in a bad way. This was also before I knew about the custard notes. I need to revisit that one with coconut candy or fa coconut. One a side note, I made a key lime pie that was good using tfa key lime, tfa cheesecake with crust and lorannesmy cheesecake and didnt get this feeling. Do you know if LA ny chcheesecake contains the bad guys?

I was just on the TFA website and now coconut candy contains custard notes. I am done buying tfa until they send out a statement saying that all their flavors have been tested and updated in the description. I am tired of buying flavors thinking they are safe only to find out they are not. I thought it smelled kind of buttery.
