I've only just realised this thread is for the MINI TFV4, I've got a regular TFV4.
But still the heads are interchangeable.
I've abandoned the rba heads, installed a brand new sextuple head, filled up, left it to absorb the juice for 15mins...
Came back, aaaaaand, it's sitting in a strawberry and cream scented puddle.
My leaking issues must be down to a faulty o-ring, going to inspect them all tonight.
Unbelievable.

I've seen a few people asking about wicking so I'm just curious how everyone is doing it. Here's how I do it. This is with 60vg

That looks like a lot of cotton you're using. I tried building on mine for the first time last week, it didn't come out right, I'm going to try doing it like yours next time. It's a project for my next day off.

Yeah I do a 3.5mm diameter coil to maximize the cotton. It doesn't work well for me with less. But it works great how I do it. They went a little overboard with the juice channels, but it can probably wick 500% vg lol

New TFV4, same crappy problems.

Some things that help with the leaking
-after you fill, you need to take 5 short primer puffs, then 5-15 actual drags. The system has to build up its internal pressure
-Make sure your cap is tight, especially at the pivot pin. Some (im assuming the minis have the same QC issues as the regular sized) have a loose pin and the cap will not seat properly. Breaking seal and leaking.
-For assembly, place the glass into the topcap BEFORE screwing it to the base. If you place the glass into the base, then try screwing on the top cap, something just doesnt seat right.

Issues are hit or miss on all these tanks. I blame QC at smok.

On the TFV4 I like 2.5-3.0mm ID coils. 3mm or a bit more wick is enough to fill the juice channels, I'm currently using 3.0mm silika rope. (cut the rope off at the gutter using the gutter as a guide)

Only floods/leaks I get is when filling - dang you need to be quick - make sure you don't add air/juice pressure to the tank by covering the fill slot while filling. If your in/out of there in less than 15-30 seconds and get a few hits in to recreate negative pressure in the tank it ought not leak.

The images above where I see TONS of cotton - gravity may not be your friend - all that soaking wick may not 'dry hit' but eventually the juice will seep off the wick and into the air hole.

Consider the 3mm rope as a 'minimalist' example - works will with 50/50 to %100VG.

    I bought new beefier o-rings

Power plus 50pc assorted, hopefully a permanent fix

I only use dual-coil deck, and have no experience with single-coil deck you are using, but in your pictures it looks like you have way too much cotton on deck (but that would cause dry-hits, not leaking), and your tails look a bit fat but a bit too short.

But other than wicking, are you:
    - closing your airholes when refilling?
    - using vape band? (I've seen some people reporting leakage when not using vape band as top fill doesn't seal the tank 100%)

Good luck, it has been a great tank for me.

EDIT: I just looked at my dual-coil deck, and actually I think your tails are just about the right length on the pictures.

i tried long tail, short tail, stuffed the deck, little cotton on deck, did a wall cotton from juice channel and covered the sides/screws, tried wicking it then closed cap, used tweezers to pat it down lightly from top on both sides, i've tried screwing rba base to chimney first then screw on base, i've tried closing airflow off and refilled within 20 seconds then do 5 primer pulls and resume vaping, nothing works, i had the least leaks when it was stuffed stuffed but it dry hit like no tomorrow

it leaks no matter what i do, how i do it
it leaks when i refill juice

the funny part was... my quad coils never leaked on me... i put it in and it leaked once, but didn't leak again

i've heard someone fixed it with beefier o-rings, im going to try that before i give up this tank, i like this tank alot... easy top fill, very good airflow, many premade options and 3 types of rbas, with no leaking, imo this is one of the best

Where did you get new o-rings from (and what size)?
In some reviews I've seen people complaining about Smok o-rings (and I also noticed part of my bottom o-ring was stuck on the glass when I got my tank), so I'm thinking about getting some just in case.

    Thanks.
    If u type

    "Tfv4 leak fix"

one of the links is by lene oliver on facebook, she has pics of her using the "power plus 50+ o-ring assortment", i figured the rba base is same size fit for the regular and mini so if her tfv4 is fixed by these o-rings chances are it can fix mine, i pray it works

I have had mine for a week now ,the problem is not your wick it is the o-ring on the rba deck to base . if you screw it down to fast the o-ring pop off.so what you need to do is lube it with a drop of juice then slowly tighten it a little at a time and let that o-ring settle ,then tighten down some more until snug. very slow way to do it but it works . and also wick tales down the channels. now for filling close air put band around ,then plug the chimney while you fill. then close lid and take a hit to create vacuum. then I put the second band at top to keep lid closed

I tried my first attempt at an rba yesterday with the TFV4, not the mini but same deck. I cut the cotton where it just barely touched the juice channels. Worked good for about two hours then started leaking. I rewicked with more cotton and lightly packed a little into the channels. Also, putting it back together, I remembered the guy at the shop I bought the tank from telling to lube the inside top and bottom of the glass. Hasn't leaked in over 12 hours now, but I did close the airflow while I slept.
