Hello everyone. Newbie aboard. Been lurking here, stealing information for a few weeks before making the jump from analogs to vaping 1/1/12. I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who posts information, tips and takes the time to answer all of our questions, even though I'm sure you've heard them all a thousand times before. The info on ECF would fill volumes and volumes of encyclopedias, and I'm grateful for each and every one of you.
I'm 34 years old, and I've been a PAD to 30 AD Smoker for 19 years. (Sheesh I'm still ashamed to admit that
) I've tried everything and I do mean EVERYTHING under the sun to get those cancer sticks out of my life for good, and all I can say is thank God for vaping and ECF. I've been especially hard on myself the last two and half years about quitting because I became a father in 2009. The last straw for me-- I left a pack of smokes on the kitchen counter on my way out the door to my car for a moment, my daughter said "Daddy, wait you forgot these." and proceeded to hand me my cigarettes. It hit me like a ton of bricks and I felt like a real $%^#! at that moment. I kind of saw everything for what it was in that moment. My mom and dad, grandparents, all heavy smokers. I can't remember a time when they didn't smoke. Cigarettes, to me were a part of everyday life, every day of my life, and now here was my little girl already associating Daddy with those damn cigarettes.
I resolved to quit using the patch this last time, and well, that didn't exactly work as I had planned, I was still sneaking smokes here and there to feed the ritual / oral fixation / compulsion. One day about three weeks before Xmas, my buddy handed me a umm well let's just say a "mall e-cig". I tried it and thought, wow this is great, I can do this. He had an extra 4081 battery and a few cartos that he was willing to spot me, to get me going. The battery life, and cart life quickly underwhelmed me so I started to do some research, and noticed a trend...Every Google query eventually led me to a thread here on ECF. Soon I was doing all my research here, and verifying it from secondary sources. I decided to purchase an E-go T kit from a supplier at one hell of a discount price and I was good to go. So long story short, 1 E-go T starter kit, a few dual coil cartos and some EMDCC's from MV, a few juices from Copper Creek, Nettmix custom vapes, and My Freedom smokes, totaling about $100-125 later and I made the jump to vaping only and have been smoke free since 12/31/11 at 8:50PM
For the first time in my life, I feel like I have a tool in my kit that will enable me to break free from the grip cigarettes and the tobacco companies have had on me since I've been conscious of this world. I no longer stink, my wife actually wants to kiss me now
, and actually likes the scents when I vape. I feel better already, and I can smell again. My daughter said to me the other day "Daddy, I'm happy you don't have to go outside anymore, I missed you", I just can't tell you how awesome that feels. Bottom line, I think vaping may have saved my life. I had resigned myself to the idea that I would never be able to quit, no matter what. I don't think that way today, and I just wanted to express my gratitude, because even though you may not know me, you all have helped me tremendously. I look forward to becoming a member of this community and giving back what has freely been given to me. I think what ECF is doing is truly life-saving.
Thanks for listening to me ramble.
-Brian
