Vapers In Power have done it already!

Thanks to the commitment, belief and generosity of so many members of the vaping community, after only ten days of a month long crowd funding campaign VIP have raised the £1500 needed to put Liam Bryan forward as a political candidate in the UK 2015 General Election.

We're going to do it people. We can take advantage of all the perks and privileges electoral candidates enjoy to ensure our concerns and issues are part of the political agenda. Liam and the team have plenty of hard work ahead in the coming weeks but it wouldn't be possible without the support you've shown.

The crowd funding will remain open for anyone who still wishes to donate - in many ways it means even more now. Now we know it's definitely going to happen every penny helps to fund publicity and to raise the profile of both the party and the cause VIP are fighting for!

So thank you vapers of Great Britain (and beyond)! We have our funding and you have a candidate. Raise a glass, pick up your mod and toast the future of the first ever political campaign for vapers!

Bear in mind that you will need to be very committed, have time and be willing to speak to the media. You will also need a lot of local support and be eligible to stand as a candidate.

We have another candidate

The UK will (if we get the readies http://igg.me/at/vapers ) be represented in both the North and the South, by candidates that represent the politics of vaping.

For readers who are not UK based a little back ground might be useful. It is less than 50 days until the UK General Election. This is the biggest event of the political calendar. It only happens once every 5 years and along with the election of local politicians this is the time that representatives are chosen for the lower house where all the important political decisions are made.

Vapers in Power is fielding (hopefully) two candidates to stand for election to that body. Simply by existing Vapers in Power makes a difference to the way vaping can be treated in the UK when the imminent legislation is enacted, but we also have the opportunity to put vaping on the agenda for every candidate standing for election. Producing one candidate would have given us local impact, but producing two and geographically so far apart, gives us a real opportunity to make the vaping question carry weight.

This CAN influence the way the forthcoming regulations are interpreted in this country. We have already hit the National press in the Mirror which is admittedly a tabloid newspaper with popular appeal rather than a paper who's reporting carries serious weight, but it is just the start of what we hope to achieve with your help.
