I just wanted to thank everyone for all the kind words, prayers, PMs and loving support I received here at the V4L subforum when I posted about my mom having lung cancer a couple of weeks ago. Everyone was just great, and I guess I needed that support right then at that moment. I was just so overwhelmed with the situation at the time.

Mom spent a week at the hospital, and then almost 3 weeks here with me. She has now gone to stay with my sister for a few days to give me a little break.

She eventually did recover from the pneumonia, but she won't be able to return to her home. I let her try it for one day, but she called me less than 24 hours later. She was crying, that just about broke my heart. She realized that she could not take care of herself, but I had to let her at least try since that's what she wanted to do.

So I have been trying to work fulltime (I work mostly at home) and take care of her. Mostly it's been a fairly easy thing for me to do, except that I was not sleeping well -- up and down all night every night checking on her. Those of you who are new moms and dads with little babies know what I'm talking about. You just don't sleep well.

So my sister picked her up late Thursday night, and everything seems okay for now. I was still up and down all night, go figure. Last night I slept soundly for the first time in weeks. I know my sister will take good care of her, but that doesn't stop me from worrying.

Anyway, I just wanted to give you an update and let all of my vaping family know how much your kind words and prayers meant to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Moonstruck, I am glad your mom is feeling better. It's tough to see your parent going through hard times both mentally and physically. What a fantastic daughter you are for taking such good care of your mother! So many people these days wouldn't have the time for their parents (my sister is one of them).

We are here for you any time you need a shoulder to lean on or a venting spot. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Do take advantage of the respite time your sister is giving you so that you can continue to be strong for your mom. Hang in there kiddo!

God bless you Moonstruck-I went through Adenocarcenoma of the lung with my Mother and it's not easy. We found a great Doctor in Gulfport, MS that did an unbelievable job removing the cancer. All your worries and hardwork will pay off, I promise. Hang in there and let your Mom know how much she is loved and needed.

Moonstruck, thanks for the update - I've been wondering how you and your mom were doing. Almost PM'd you but thought that you needed a little break and didn't want to pry. Did you sign her up for a Chemo Angel? Do you have a baby monitor in her room? that might ease your sleep anxiety a bit. Your mom raised 2 Great daughters!! I can't imagine my brothers stepping up to the plate. Hugs!!
