Just wanted to let you all know I am here, though I haven't said much. Since my wildly popular post about my husband's ego exploding, several of you have reached out to me in some form or fashion to invite me over here...but I was here shortly after we got this forum started. I am thankful that you guys thought of me though, as I very well could have been in the dark. Just wanted to be sure you all knew I was here, so you don't have to go out of your way. For anyone wondering...here's my ever popular thread. What a nightmare!!!

Yes. It was terrifying. We're living in a pre-fab home (which I hear are more flammable) and I had 1 child down for a nap and another watching a movie. My first thought was I needed to get them out...but nothing actually had flames and my husband smothered out the smoldering debris on the floor quickly. Astonishingly the my lil one who was napping didn't wake up, through 4 smoke alarms going off. My oldest ran outside to get away from the noise and smell...We got the situation under control, and I finally convinced my oldest to come back inside. If not for it being that time of day, either of them or my husband/myslef, could have been standing right there and severely burned. While I know this is not necessarily the place for religious conversation, I do believe God had his hand on my family and our house that day.

Since then, my husband has taken an old cylindrical portable humidor (a little thinner and taller than a soda can) and taken the hydrometer out of the top cap, which leaves a hole in the top about the size of a half dollar coin. The humidor is a heavy aluminum, so he has run the charger down through the top hole and we screw the batteries on by removing the bottom cap, then place the cap back on during charging. We can still see the light on the charger and inspect the battery, but it's more enclosed in the event of an explosion.
