Thanks to Baditude

I finally had a good experience with a carto tank system. Its either a real Kamry X8 or a clone i got for $10 locally with two cartos and a fill bottle with a needle. Ive been using a PTII and an iClear with good results but i wanted to try a carto tank.

Well, my first attempt was terrible even after watching videos of filling ect ect. Very little vaopr and lots of spitting. This tank is kind of a nightmare anyway with the way you secure the carto so i got a longer one for $3 and filled it after reading his instructions. I made sure it did not gurgle before filling the tank and let it set for a few minute after it was filled.

I put it on my MVP set at 3.7v and took a few dry pulls to make sure its not gurgling. Its good and took a couple quick pulls just to make 100% sure and to make sure it was firing. The sound is even a bit different than my clearo type tanks. More hissss and no crackle sounds....i assume this is normal because it works fine, maybe too fine for me.

All i can say is WOW. a carto is quite a bit different than the clearo types. Warmer vapor, TH much more noticeable and more analog in the overall experience. Frankly it was a little much for me if i take a long draw. After an hour or so, my chest felt like i had been smoking an analog. The tank seems to get kinda warm too but im using a Smok 45mm dual coil in a 35mm X8 tank. Altogether with tip its about the same length over the tank as the iClear30 "cozy" drip tip so it does not look that bad.

Thanks again to Tude and ECF.

Im still not sure which type i like best but at least i now can find out. The carto tank system did not leak over night and still has zero gurgle. Im definitely going to try a non tank type carto too and work on my draw technique a bit more.

I did need to turn down the volts a tiny bit vs the PTII and iClear30 with similar ohm coils otherwise its a bit too harsh. Not burning harsh but TH is a bit rough for me. Maybe a single coil carto will be better for me. Ive also heard of a bottom horizontal coil carto made by Kanger (maybe) but i cant find them on Kanger's websites.

It also seems to be a good idea to NOT cover the drip tip hole with your finger when you put it back on or take it off the carto. It can lead to a slight gurgle but it went away. The X8 also has another quirk. Do NOT take a pull with the top filler screw removed. This will flood the carto instantly if juice is in the tank.

Is it normal for a carto glass tank system to get warmer than a clearo glass tank system? The X8 with this carto gets noticeably warmer than my Pro Tank II.

Thanks again!!

I recommend trying a single coil cartomizer. I found that the vape was smoother and not as harsh as dual coils can be (my experience). I also got a lot of burnt taste with dual coils, which I suspect that the upper of the two coils in the carto wasn't staying wet enough and burning the filler around it.

I've never tried nor found any Kanger cartos to try. I had heard rumors that the cartos that Smokeless Image uses were made by Kanger (horizontal coil, too), but those are 808-threaded.

A glass cartotank can get warm to touch, especially with a dual coil carto in it. Even my single coil carts can warm a glass tank occassionally with heavy vaping. Shouldn't be any harm in it as long as the carto is wicking properly.

Taking the top screw off the fill hole disrupts the negative pressure in a cartotank.

Well, this 35mm tank and the XL 45mm carto are still working good. It need a dry pull once in a while or just slower vaping than my clearos but its quite useable and no gurgle or leaking at all. The flavor is definitely different than all my clearo types. I tried a non punched carto the other day too with chocolate cake juice and it had a really good flavor.
