Hello there, does five pawns have any tobacco flavors...I am not seeing it in the descriptions unless I am on the wrong page. I hope they do have tobacco because I really like the way they present their juice. Every vendor should present their juice like that. It looks very professional and I also love the fact that they do not carry loads of juices

That is always a great sign for any product. I really hope I like it. Great job on presentation Five Pawns!

I just wanted to chime in and say I totally know what you mean. I ordered their sampler and wanted to love it sooooo much. The packaging, customer service, and everything was great. But that taste....I hate to say it but I got a weird musty flavor from all of them. The descriptions were accurate, but then add that weird taste to them all. I will try again in a while I guess, just incase a long steep gets rid of it, but I HIGHY doubt I will reorder any in the future. Has anyone found that they change much more after a long steep?

Hey Laura, the only thing I can figure is it must be the base they are using or they are literally adding something to all of their juices to purposely give them that Five Pawns taste. The way the juice burns has me wondering to. It burns so clean, there's practically no build up on my wicks. Burn isn't the right word but I don't know what else to call it. The way it burns has me wondering if they are using alcohol in their juices for taste and the clean burn.

Steeping hasn't helped lessen that taste or bring the flavors out more fully...at least not for me.

i agree their juices are all very different, and personally I think they make the best juice out there, by far.I've heard they are coming out with some new flavors...I sure hope it's true, as there is always room for more great juices.
This reminds me of the owner of a vaping shop i knew who only vaped in a carto tank.He never could understand why people paid so much for 5 pawns....until I let him vape some absolute pin in a pulse g genny with a ceramic wick and a .9 coil.....then he got it.
I have tried all of their flavors and I have found them to all be completely different from each other with no similar taste between them. Could it be your set up? I use an RBA and wrap my own micro coils and depending on what ohm coil I wrap, it changes the Five Pawns flavors considerably, especially the Castle Long Reserve.

I agree. Santa brought me two bottles of Gambit in my stocking. That will hold me about 2 weeks.......

if your B&M is like all the others they are letting you taste juice through a cartomizer, or cheap clearomizer....which in this case is like smoking a havana cigar through a bag of dirty laundry.
I tried 5 Pawns recently at a local B&M, I really wanted to like the juice based on what people say is a very unique and difficult to replicate taste, but I must still have a kids palate since the only things I can appreciate are candy/fruity sweet stuff. LOL

First, can you explain what a pulse g genny is with a .9 coil? I think you are talking about a Genesis with a .9 ohm? Also am I getting you right that if you use a carto like lets say a 1.5 dual coil carto that the juice cannot be appreciated. I would love to know.

Thanks

as the original post had stated, I too know that specific taste to which he is referring to. this flavor, or whatever it is, is very overwhelming to the juice, the more I try it, the more I am turned off. I also had seen a response stating that it could be the atty to which some might be using, well in my case I have tried the 5 pawns on nothing but hi end devices such as rebuildables that are tuned in and produce a much better flavor profile then regular carto's and such and it doesn't matter, that flavor is still there and its kind of nasty.

yes he is talking about a genesis atty with a .9 coil and a ceramic wick which imo does produce some of the best flavor of any device around. I was vaping this same device for a long time and it does blow away any cart period. one thing is funny though, I vape a device that produces an equal or even better performance to a genny & ceramic and still think the 5 pawns tastes kind of weird, there is definitely a flavor in them that is overpowering and nasty. so it doesn't matter what device your vaping and at what resistances, if you don't like a juice in one device, you probably wont like it in another.

FYI,

Castle Long Reserve has been aged and steeped in a treated oak barrel for three weeks.

You’ll taste toasted coconut, roasted almond, brown sugar, two different vanillas (Madagascar vanilla bean and French vanilla), Kentucky bourbon, and charred oak.

Liquid extracted from the barrels has been filtered using a proprietary filtration process before bottling.

All flavors are organic and we use only the finest ingredients sourced domestically and locally. All liquid is made in the state of California. Our liquid blends are comprised of 50% VG / 50% PG. Our flavors are extracted from actual base ingredients and we offer 0mg, 6mg, and 12mg nicotine levels.

Notice the "treated" and "filtered" part.
I'm not worried.

Filtration can mean a lot of things, but I did the research, and I contacted them, and my concerns are no more. I spent a lot of time on brewing and distilling sites, very interesting stuff, too bad I rarely drink! :)

"Scorching" sounds bad, but it's more accurately like caramelizing, which is perfectly safe. The nasty cancer stuff isn't created.

I knew I couldn't be the only one picking up that Five Pawns taste. Maybe some of us are sensitive to whatever it is. There are like six of us now in this thread alone that have all said the same thing. I think I would really like Gambit and GrandMaster if it weren't for that background flavor.

Are you getting the funny taste from the samples? It seems like a few people have said that they tried the samples and got the funny flavor. Has anyone gotten the funny flavor from ordering 30ml bottles?

I have ordered 10+ bottles of Gambit, Queenside and Bowden's Mate and not gotten any funny background flavor.

Yeah, cartomizers are not the best set up to appreciate the nuances of a juice, they are really easy to use and convenient, but they are not known for the quality of flavor they deliver. drippers with micro coils and genesis are the tools of choice for flavor hounds.although the taifun kayfuns are also pretty darn good.

That is an excellent question. Would love to hear from those who've tried both the samples and 30ml bottles. I really really hope it's just the samples.

Perhaps...... for instance I find the base used in some juices like virgin vapors revolting.

I'm curious if the other flavors are anything at all like Castle. Because one of the things I love about it is a heady, perfume-like note on the exhale. It's way up in the sinuses. Makes it definitely not an ADV, but it's nice for a little while. I'd try the other flavors for that feeling.
