that old sock taste

I havent had any luck with cartos, i ordered a boge hr carto a while back and it had this terribly distinctive side taste that i didnt like. Few days ago i decided to give it another go and got myself a 5 pack of boge MR cartos. I figured maybe the side taste was a defect on the first one but i had the exact same experience with all of these again. I filled them with different methods from condom to spinning to just slowly dripping from the top and from the bottom, no difference as far as i can tell. The taste is sort of like throwing wet cardboard on a fire, not the burning part but rather the part where they would evaporate off the water they have soaked up in a ditch somewhere.

Is there a trick to this or is that just the way they are?

I think i discovered something. Immediately after i put a couple drops down the bottom the cardboard taste is gone, in fact it tastes supreme but after 5 hits or so it comes back (diminished but still looms in the background). It seem that the coil has to be soaking with juice to work right, would putting a tank around it help?
