Hi there - I'm super completely brand new to this whole thing, but know better than to just go to a vape shop and pay too much for what is almost definitely going to be an inferior device. I humbly request expert advice. This kinda post typically works pretty well on the knife forums I frequent, so here goes:

I quit smoking about three years ago, and I'm done with Nicotine but the reason I started smoking in the first place remains - I like the motion, the pause, and the feeling of "lung fullness"

I'm looking for something reasonably pocketable, and am looking for that lung fullness feel more than anything. Basically, a pocket hookah.

I'm pretty mechanically adept and also have no issue with the idea of buying compatible pieces separately and putting it together, so I don't need a one-stop-shop solution. My budget is variable depending on what's out there.

I greatly appreciate your time and responses. Thank you for even reading this far.

Hi and welcome! My first suggestion is to look at something like the Joytech eGo AIO. It's simple and cheap. Why not something nicer and more high end? Who knows if you'll even like vaping. As you're already off cigarettes I imagine you'll want 0 nic juice, which is available. If you use it and like vaping, you can buy all kinds of cool (and expensive) stuff down the line. Another nice thing with that AIO, you can easily pocket it to carry around as well, and would still be a good backup if you decide to go more upscale.

You're right. This question has been asked a number of times. I would suggest going through the last three or four months of posts, locating threads that ask about the same question, and see what the answers were. THEN, when you're beginning to have some idea of what you might want, come back and ask people's opinion. Not trying to be contrary, but there have been a ton of great answers to your question in the months past that might not make it onto a new post. AND - welcome to the ECF family!

Just because you walk into a vape shop doesn't mean you have to spend any money! Stop in and see what they have and recommend....and get their price. Taste some juices and find something you like, or 2 or 3. Then go home, check in here and let us know what you like, and check online pricing. If the shop happens to be close enough in price and you don't want to wait for vape mail, I am sure they can set you up and you can walk out the door vaping away. At the least you can pick up some juice you know you'll like and have it sitting there when your vape mail arrives.

Honestly, if you don't need to, having been off nicotine for so long, it's a real bad time to start vaping. Look at some of the discussions on this specific forum for information about FDA deeming regulations, stockpiling, etc. You'll see what I mean. Even if you didn't use any nicotine, other things might become difficult to get.

If that doesn't put you off, my recommendation would be the Innokin Endura T18. It vapes like a cigarette, easy to pocket, and easy to fill and maintain. If you'd like something a bit classier, and cost isn't a big deal, I'd recommend the Provari 2.5 mini (while you can still get it) with the tank of your choice. I say "mini" because you mentioned pocketability.

Good luck, and welcome!

Thank you all very much for your input and suggestions. After doing some shopping around and some research, it's looking like the iStick 30 is going to be my best starting point. It's well under my projected budget and looks to have the best balance of size, value, and potential for modification should I choose to expand on it.

Again, greatly appreciated, and I thank you sincerely.

Welcome @Gorgatun and the vape shop you buy from can give you the same deal as an online purchase because I bought my first MOD and tank at a local B&M. He gave me the same price as a kit online and I did not have to wait. Remember the shipping can make an online purchase cost much more. Not all vape shops will hammer you on the price.

Just counting down to the get a Provari/get a REO posts.

No, those days are long gone... Now it's "go get the latest 500 watt 3 battery mod with 4x temp control and top it with that new quad Clapton Dragon Snapple coil tank that guzzles 50mls of juice a day"!!
