Aloha Don!

Want to thank you for all of your great contributions to ecf, especially for your 6-part The Wonderful World of vaping series. I discovered it in the library after cruising around the New Members Forum for a few days. Started reading Wonderful World somewhere in the middle, was so impressed with the great illustrations and your easy-read style… went back to Part 1 and read through the entire series. Absolutely informative, I still refer to it often.

While it rightfully belongs in our library, I often wish it was stickied in the New Members Forum. It’s a must-read for all newbies, but unfortunately most just dive into the newbie forum to get their 5 before exploring the Library and other areas.

Don, Just wanted to convey my appreciation for what you do. All of your contributions are just wonderful… your songs on the other hand??? …we all forgive you! lol

Mahalo!

Thank you, LilMew and shaka808! It started out being stickied at the top of the New Members' forum, but moved into the Library once that forum was created.

The powers that be need to publicize the Library more. The posts in there (not only mine) are of potential interest to any vaper, but especially to new members.

Of course, all anyone has to do is click on the new banner in my signature in any of my posts and you'll be taken directly to Part 1 of that long treatise of mine.

Hello Don!

We must be travelling along similar paths in our vaping "lives". I, too, have discovered the 901. In fact, my little silver ciggie could be a twin of yours ;)

I'm currently scouring the ECF forum for "deals" on the 901-- and comparing prices throughout the web. I've found the battery life to be a disappointment... (MUST FIND 808 BATTERY!) .. but attys, battys, chargers, extenders, adapters *sigh* ... it gets overwhelming. Each time I find a new model, I must start my research all over again. :p

;) Perhaps we need a chart :D Care to make one? ;)

I recently picked up a 302 based on this thread. I just got it today so I have yet to really come to any solid conclusions but I am liking it so far. It really is different than a 510 but not in a bad way just different. I have a feeling that I'll be picking up a couple more of these and a box mod so I don't need an adapter.

Thanks

Our paths may be parallel, but you are walking yours a lot more quickly than I've walked mine. Over eleven hundred posts in just four months?!

You do know that an adapter is not required for the 901 atty on a Kr8 battery, right? [The other way around: probably is required.] In this recent post in the Ask The Veterans forum, I provided links to several inexpensive suppliers for the DSE901, as well as the compatible RN4075, BE901, and GP901.

Suppliers of the Kr8 battery were provided in the review which started this thread. And give strong consideration to the new eGO-like battery for the Kr8 and 901: the Elegant by CigEasy, which I reviewed here. The voltage isn't quite as high as the regular Kr8 batt, but it is 750 mAh ... and it is aptly named.

You're welcome! Hope you enjoy it. I'm still in love with mine. I even use it on my Elegant (with adapter, of course, and without the cone, but I don't care).

Don, Great Info. I had been researching & with your's and others' help I chose the KR808D I don't know the difference between KR808D and the KR808D-1? So I am not sure which model I have. What is the difference? (I also ordered from V4L) I am confused.

Why would we need an atty added? I bought the cartomizers so atty is included. Are you saying you can still add an atty and a regular cartridge on this battery? I know this would give me more options, but I thought avoiding the atty was the whole point of 2-Part systems?

How long until ALL of this makes sense? lol

I *believe* that with most suppliers, the "KR808" is just a shortening for the cumbersome "KR808D-1." I know there is one exception to this rule - but I can't think of what supplier it is. I don't believe it's V4L, though.

The KR808D-1 is compatible with the 901 atty and cart with no adapter. So if you wanted to use that, you could.

But I don't believe there is a separate atty/cart system directly marketed as the "KR808 atty/cart."

Didn't you know that girls are talkers and boys are walkers? ;)

Yes, on the 901/808 adapter.. I did know, I was only referencing in general. The constant learning is overwhelming. But thank goodness for knowledgable and kind folks such as yourself! I shall def check out those links... that will help quite a bit. Thank you sir.

Hmmm.. good to know. I had not heard of that battery yet. Is it the same size as the Ego/Riva? (I wonder if it would work with those chargers?) I had considered getting an adapter to use my 901 on my ego battery, but I am not confident enough in the whole compatibility issues yet. There are so many things that will not work with this battery or that charger, and I have fried more than one item to discover that fact!

Anyhoo... thanks for the info, as always, I appreciate your assistance :2cool:

Thanks, SkyBlue! For (almost) all practical purposes, MistressNomad is absolutely correct: "the 'KR808' is just a shortening for the cumbersome 'KR808D-1.'" Outside of China, the one exception to the rule is LeCig, which calls the E9 model 'KR808D-2' or simply D-2. The E9 is a different (incompatible) and more expensive cartomizer-based model, sold as Smoke51, Vapure, Green Smoke, etc.

I prefer the shortest abbreviation: Kr8 (pronounced kreight!). In fact I was part of a group that lobbied for it's official recognition here. Notice the mouse-over definition. Unfortunately, there is not a generally used abbreviation or alternate name for the KR808D-1. Most suppliers use the full model number or some truncation of it. [The one I like least is "808," because it is insufficiently distinguished from other models, e.g., the DSE808 (which is a Janty Stick clone).] Others sell it under proprietary brand names, e.g., Vapor King, Nebula, Easy, etc.

[Esoteric trivia: Kanger is in love with the number 808. Close to a dozen of their models (most not sold by North American or European suppliers) have KR808 in their model number.]

Why would we need an atty added? I bought the cartomizers so atty is included. Are you saying you can still add an atty and a regular cartridge on this battery? I know this would give me more options, but I thought avoiding the atty was the whole point of 2-Part systems?
MistressNomad is right again: there is no separate Kr8 atty/cart system. The point I was making in my review was about the Kr8 battery. I like it so much* that I also use it with my other (non Kr8) atomizers, e.g., 901 (no adapter required), 801, and 510.

How long until ALL of this makes sense? lol
It will never "ALL" make sense.;) But be reassured: very soon it will fall into place for you. You'll have a meaningful understanding of this vaping stuff. [Someone:D once put together a six-part introduction to vaping. It's long-winded, but filled with pretty pictures and songs to hold your interest. I link to Part 1 in my signature banner. It might be helpful.] Over time (to the extent you want to get into it) you can explore any of its myriad variations (e.g., the ever-changing world of mods).

* Recently, I've been cheating on my mistress (the standard Kr8 battery) with the new Elegant Easy, also a battery for the Kr8 (and other attys). Regarding which:

...Hmmm.. good to know. I had not heard of that battery yet. Is it the same size as the Ego/Riva? (I wonder if it would work with those chargers?) I had considered getting an adapter to use my 901 on my ego battery, but I am not confident enough in the whole compatibility issues yet. It is approximately the same size as the eGO/Riva, although I don't have one of those to compare. I think it may be even smaller. It will not work with an eGO charger. I can't swear that the 901 atty with adapter will work on the eGO. [I don't see why not.] I can testify that the 510 (and 801) atty with adapter works very well on the Elegant.

You can postpone that polyfill burning by refilling the carto before it gets dry. And Doggsbody's Carto Cap technique is an easy way to do it (but, as Kent warned, not while driving). Fill up some cartomizers before you go to bed (at the same time that you are plugging all your batteries into chargers). Then head out the next day with freshly charged batts and full cartomizers.

I'd loved the cartos until one day I recalled an old warning -- don't leave your bottled water in the car because the heat in the car could cause the plastic container to release harmful chemicals into the water. Imagine the polyfill in the very very hot soup! Even the so-called "cooler" cartos get really hot after a short while. Am I worried too much?
I don't know. But now I do direct dripping more often, with an 801 and my beloved silver bullet. The 801 was inspired by Don.

I am honored to be mentioned in your very first ECF post, MegaWaterpipe. Thank you ... and welcome!

You've used cartos and the discerning vaper's atomizer*, you drip, and you have a silver bullet! You ain't no newbie.

* Psst: The Joye 302 and EastMall 801 are even better.

As for your stated concern: I don't know; e-cig chemistry is not my forte. [ECF's Kurt has a PhD in it, well in chemical physics at least, and he knows a lot about its applications in vaping.] In my case, all my vaping supplies are in my air conditioned home or on my person.

Thanks, Don. I am not a newbie. I posted it here because I happened to see the discussion about carto burning issue which reminded me of that great concern of mine.
I definitely will try Joye 302.
Don't get me wrong; I wasn't criticizing you for posting in the New Members Forum (heck, I started this thread here). [In fact, it is totally appropriate: although not new to vaping, you are new to ECF.] I was just acknowledging your vaping credentials notwithstanding your ECF newbieness. Again, welcome!

I wish I had seen this before I purchased. Then again, having 4 (more on the way) models helps have an informed opinion rather than relying on someone else.

However, this thread rocks and it has given me valuable information that no vaper should be without. Excellent information and a great platform to start making a decision. The references to vendors is great too! So thank you for taking the time!

Another vendor of the KR808D is Madvapes which I saw in another thread here. They seem to have awesome prices though I don't know about the quality. My problem with the 808 cartomizers is the nasty vitamin smell that some vendors (won't name unless asked) have batches of. I mean...nasty with a N.
