I never wanted to polish the anodizing, I know that won't work, my intent was to polish it the way I would anything else, sand paper starting at probably 400 grit to remove the anodizing and finish at 5000 followed by a buffing. How have other people tried to do this?

I believe they have, AR. I'm not sure about the results though.

Is getting a 2nd one, to keep nice while that one remains your beater, out of the question?

No a second one is necessary I'd ruin a nice one! I've considered a rat black as well, with a brass side plates, I brass inner plate, brass button and a brass tip... Or all those same pieces in Damascus. It's just that I love the polished one so much!

I would post pictures of my "beater" but I honestly can't get the scratches to show up in pictures, It's not like I've ruined it, it just isn't "like new" like I usually see on here

Yeah, they're quite special. Every once in a while I remove the wrap, just to remember how sweet they look.

The black ones hold up nicely (within reason, of course).

I have a tendency to start at with a mild sandpaper to prevent getting too aggressive and leaving deep scratches that I have to take out later, I'm not sure i want to risk ruining a BB to find out how it works out.

I would love to start with a raw box, but those came polished and go for ridiculous prices... Unless you've got a hook up for a raw one!

See, when I was still polishing, i was using a polishing lathe. And any metal would follow the same progression of rough-grease-buff-color

Rough would usually be a dry 120 (for things like copper of brass, dry 320). Grease is a wet 320 (using polishing grease and diesel fuel). Sizel buff, then soft cotton.

Remember to cross your lines

My daughter tasted it and said that she might actually be successful at vaping in place of smoking with yummy flavors like that!

Wow that would be fantastic!!! So happy you're doing much better, and very very happy you're taking your recovery more seriously this time!!! Glad you're loving the vapemail goodies. Mine will be coming soon.

Can the door of the billet box be replaced? I've dropped rat black a few times and the door doesn't slide like it should anymore.

Sent from my SM-N910W8
I'm not sure but a file would probably fix that for you. DP will know if you can buy another door.

Can you make this puppy run the OTHER direction????
I've tried a few times, and it just goes to a black background and stops being animated.

jcash, I'd suggest contacting BBV to see about a repair. I do not believe the doors are interchangeable actually. So a new door might not be your answer.

I believe Ms. Kitty speaks the truth (always).

My conversations with BBV indicate that the units are milled as one, and each piece is specifically mated to/for its counterpart. That's not to say that I cannot work, because it can. In my case, it actually does work (between my two anodized BB's, but not if I try with the raw one).

Ultimately I'd be surprised if they'd sell just a door, since they can't guarantee it will work. But I would definitely ask them, because things might well have changed since this particular conversation I had with them. The fact that my two are interchangeable, and were created more than a year away from each other, indicates that this is a distinct possibility.

So, long story short, send them a note. It might be worth it.
