I was reading a page or two back about people talking about how they were worried about breaking the glass in their boro tank if they have to lower it a lot to get a replacement coil in.
I was assembling tanks today and had a piece of glass that had some scratches in it, and not wanting to just throw it away I tried to break it. It took a bit of pressure to get it to break. With the new tanks I don't think you're going to have to worry about the glass breaking unless you're intentionally trying to break it.
Well.........................................................
Mine broke 10 seconds after I got it in the mail..
Short version:
Was trying to slide tank down far enough for the larger and square'ish Kanger coil to fit in. The glass slid all the way off, out of my hand and onto the tile floor.. A bounce, smash, crack, break and roll later it was in 50 pieces..
The problem is that some atty's, I'm looking at you Kanger and the soon to be used Billet Racing, require that the tank glass to be slid pretty far down (almost off) in order to get the atty in the tanks body.
I can see plenty of glass breaking once the Billet Racing starts getting used in the exact same way mine broke.. That Kanger RBA is ginourmous when compared the the BB tank size and the glass will need to be almost removed for it to fit..
It won't break from sliding it down in the BB for filling purposes but...........
