Found mainly Brown, but that's fine. I'll wait to hear what you think of the leather around the fire button.
HA !!! ... already have thoughts about that leather at the fire button LOL
May be too thick and I'll have to change my firing style ... maybe even change hands.

I'm left handed and use the inside of my thumb at the first knuckle to fire the BilletBox. Don't think that will work as well with the leather cover in place. I do have a dome button I'll try if necessary but may just have to adapt when the cover is in use. We'll see ...

I am using 30 gage Kanthal, and 2.5 mm dia. 5 wraps @ about 1.6Ω. I have it set at 10 watts, and haven't experienced any popping yet. The only problem I've had after about 3 refills, I got quite a bit of flooding after the last refill and closing it up.
That comes out to 4Volts. I usually prefer 3.9 (and lower) but 4 is okay ... popping isn't ... so maybe I need to up my wicking game or something :)

Snagged a crossbow at drop--should be at least as good as the VS, if not a bit better (IMHO). $175 shipped is a bit steep--okay, too steep, but my mission is to own at least 1 of every BB atty.
They were trying to build the hype-train before launch--kinda funny, as it would have worked in 2014.

Can anyone help me out. I have an authentic VapeShell and can’t seem to get any flavor out of it. It’s pretty horrible. I have a 10 wrap 26 gauge Ni80 2.5mm in there at around 1 ohm. It literally tastes flavorless and it’s really frustrating. I never got much flavor out of the nautilus coils in the billet either. Is it just a product of the box itself, amazing design but low on flavor. I’m an rda sqonker mostly and I know it would never be on that level, but to a certain extent I’d expect to taste something. I’ve tried really sweet juices that taste like nothing in the billet, complex fruity menthol which tastes like essentially unflavored with a hint of menthol. Any help would be appreciated

I didn't get much flavor out of my first build (2.5mm) and then tried 3.0 which helped a lot. At least for me, the key ended up being having the coil very low in the deck - almost touching the restrictor. After I started doing that, I've gone back to 2.5 with no loss of throat hit or flavor.

No flavor being a by-product of the Billet Box?
Not in the least.

Some of the best flavor I’ve ever had has been produced by a Billet Box, using the VapeShell among a few others.

I don’t know anything about using temp control vaping...but I can list my go-to build for the VapeShell.

- 2 wire twisted Kanthal
- 2.8mm diameter
- 4/5 wraps (5/6 for other atomizers, but the VS creates longer coil legs)
- averages out to 0.5-0.6 ohms
- Japanese KoGenDo cotton
- fired at 25-30watts, based on individual juice flavor profile

I prefer the 2.5mm airflow pin for the VS, with the bottom airflow ring removed or wide open.

Not sure if this will help you...more sure it won’t...

But I get fantastic flavor with this build.

I’ve used these atomizers, with a tailored version of that same build:
- VapeShell
- Exocet
- Odis Flow
- Insider

The Insider was the only one I had issues with, but those were dry hits and/or excess condensation...none of which I’ve had with the other atomizers.

Thanks for the insight. I guess what I failed to mention is that I’m not tied to a particular build. I love the higher wattage “sugar lips” type vape where you can really taste the sweetener in the juice after exhale. I also enjoy a tight mtl as well. I tried putting a rather thin Clapton coil in there at 3mm and it was completely impossible to fit. That’s why I settled on a simple round wire but am getting nothing. I could try the twister wire and see what happens. Also will lower the coil as much as possible. Is there a specific style this atty is tailored to and performs best? I hate thinking that I made a $110 mistake

The VapeShell was intended to cater to as wide a range as possible, from MTL and going to DTL.

I’m am more than sure that range starts and ends conservatively inside the boundaries of that spread...

Which means very tight MTL and fully wide open DTL builds will suffer.

But, that leaves the majority of the range covered.

Any atty for the BB is inherently going to produce great flavor: space is so limited because the chambers need to be small...which in turn produces flavor. Try moving the coil closer to the air intake. I own/use just about every atty for the BBs and the difference between them is airflow/coil position.

Should be here Monday. I must say, at $175 it is WAY overpriced. Considering how similar all the atties for the BB are, I'm looking for ease of use, and perfect airflow. If I didn't have some cash laying around, I wouldn't have bothered buying one. It essentially looks like a VS, but with a smaller chamber.

Today I rebuilt my VS. My usual build would be 30 gage K, 2.5mm, 5 wraps, spaced for around 1.6Ω.
I decided to try a 3.0 mm coil, same gage, same wraps, coming out to about 1.8Ω, I use Rayon and got it a little too tight and had to hold the coil to keep it from distorting but decided to go with it anyway. Also trying it with the coil down closer to the air hole. Much more wick to fill the wells with, so will see how this works out. So far doesn't seem to be much difference in flavor than what I'm used to. It did take a bit longer for the wick to come in and smooth out. No gurgling, dry hits, or flooding as of yet. Running it at 11 watts, and that's up a bit from the smaller coil @ 10 watts.
Who knows, I might end up liking this. :)

Daaaaaaang! Look at you going wild!
Hahahaha!

I’m glad your playing around with the VS!

I’m sure you’ll find a “perfect” build that makes you feel like the VS is the best atomizer you’ve had!

I know I went through a bunch of builds for every atomizer I’ve ever owned, and found “the one” for each device.

I’m excited to hear what you think...cuz at that price, I’d be thinking about two more VapeShells!

May I present the most beautiful hand engraved BB ever! Once again a South African mastercraftsman converted a nice mod into a masterpiece!

Pretty much. With the BB already a $300 piece, no atty should be more than 1/3 the price. The Crossbow is pushing 2/3 the price, and is a bit ridiculous. Gotta go find my local Fedex branch as my driver couldn't be bothered to stop for some reason.
