You will not return from the micro coil with cotton (or hemp fiber...not rope...blah). I started turning all my brand new unpunched cartos into spare Condor parts. Still have a few slotted and prepunch cartos that haven't seen the light of day in while (emergency supplies...just in case of zombie outbreaks and the such).

Just FYI, not sure how well they will fit in the Diver, but I have started making my micro coils with a 4-40 machine bolt. Saw a video on youtube and they work out great. I wrap them on the threads, unscrew the coil, pre-oxidize the coil with a lighter, clamp down in tweezers or hemostats and torch the hell out of them. Makes a perfect coil every time with lots of air space in the center (I mount my coils vertical). Anyway, just FYI for those interested.

I mount my coils above the ceramic of the v2. There is no need to squeeze it into the cup with the v2, or the v1 Diver for that matter. I have all my coils in carto RBAs mounted above the cup with cotton ball wick, they work perfectly. In fact, they work better in terms of wicking than any other setup I've tried.

I build a 28g R/32g NR coil at about 1.8 ohms, I could probably add an extra loop or two and get it up to a little above 2.0 ohms and still fit it comfortable in the v2 above the CE2 cup. I might try 30g R later to build a higher-resistance coil.

I'll have to try that...my zapper should be here tomorrow. What diameter "mold" are you using?

Interesting, I use a 5/64 bit chucked in a jig I built from parts lying around and a modified (drilled to fit bit) 30awg wire wrap tool. Takes a few seconds to wrap and no torch needed, just pulse it on my vv/vw mod (BB took it's place for vaping), then wick with cotton.

Can I get a better picture of your coil building jig setup (PM or whatever)? Been thinking about doing something similar, but honestly I go through so few coils it just hasn't been necessary. Though always looking for things that are fun to build, and I got plenty of parts. Funny I never thought of the wire wrap tools...haha...several in my tool bag. They just look so perfect coming off the bolt. Will stick with torching, way faster for me than trying to attach to a mod and compressing them.

I have a Piko3 wire welder.....sitting idly by on my desk. Made up several wires, but using vertical coils, it is just pointless to use NR-R-NR coils. One leg goes straight to pin and the other (very short) stays in the wick till it makes contact. Maybe it will get some use one day if I do ever decide to get a Diver V2 or try that o-ring mod on the V1 (anyone got a link to that particular mod??).

It's in the recent pages on the Diver thread. I've already done it to three of my four Divers, working pretty well.
