The best part of this legislation is the fact that vape will be treated as a consumer item covered by consumer protection rather than an item under the jurisdiction of Health Canada. This means you can buy vape online with few regulations. There will still be freedom in shops to sell their products the caveat being that the consumer protection agency can, at their discretion, ask for lab reports or processing documentation to support the claims made about the package ingredients. That's not a bad thing. Advertising would be outside the store advertising. This prohibition makes it less attractive for multinational tobacco companies to become involved in marketing vape products. There will also be safety regulations applied to mods, tanks, attys etc. Again not a bad thing except that all of these regulations will drive up prices somewhat. Vape devices sold before the legislation passes will be exempt so hurry up and buy that clone tank from fasttech. The overall tone of the legislation is encouraging although there's still a lot of maneuvering room left for government agencies. This is not unusual. The government is expert in public service job creation to benefit themselves. That's what they do but with an estimated 350,000 adult Canadian vapers they aren't going to want to piss off that many voters too much.
