Depending on the coil you can clean them or rebuild them. I usually do an alcohol soak first. Sometimes that does the trick. My rebuilds are working great too. Takes a little practice, but well worth it. I'm using a Protank and the coils are pretty simple to rebuild.
Also, in addition to letting the heads soak, look on Youtube for videos about 'dry burning' heads to clean them. I have been getting really good results doing that and it i s easy to do.
Sometimes, I change the coils if I have to really take a good pull just to get a decent amount of vapor as well. Usually, a soak in alcohol can clean them up, so you don't actuially have to pitch them.
Vape quality and taste are my determining factors, usually have extras on hand and change it out with. toss the used ones in a cup of hot water then alcohol.
Depends on the device you're using. Some can be cleaned many times, some not so much and some are really hard to clean. I change mine when I can't clean them successfully any more.
