Has anyone watched it?
Has anyone tried it?
I've been trying it and I'll let you know how it works...

I live in my basement 24/7 because I care give to 2 family members and I keep negative air pressure by running a fan in the basement where I smoke. (Too new, and some complications in switching over completely to vaping at this time...)

So, my basement is a "sh**! hole of crap with mounds and mounds of paperwork along with anything that doesn't fit anywhere else in the house, along with all my art supplies. So, I put a picture of a similar looking clean basement as my cellphone wallpaper and a projection date of Easter. (I really hope TheSecret works. )

BTW. Anyone want to put my name in for one of those Home and Garden clean up the pig-sty room/home???

The Secret Works on some basic psychological foundations as well as some Buddhist elements. The movie is very melodramatic and exaggerated, but the basic ideas are their. It's all about positive and negative energy. If you put a picture of a stack of money on your wall you aren't going to just magically get it. However looking at that picture everyday you'll have the hope and willpower to go out there and start being productive at work or interviews and people will notice that positive energy coming from you and in turn that extra money is more likely to come in. You aren't going to get it just by sitting in your room and thinking about it all day, I can promise you that - in that respect the movie gives false hope. Good luck though my friend.

I agree with DCrist. I've watched it 3 times with different friends/ family. I believe it has some powerful rules to live by.

I am of the firm belief that the mind is the strongest tool we have, and works in conjunction with the mouth. If you think something negative, then speak it, (put it out into the uiniverse as they say in the movie) you can bring that negative energy to you. And the same can happen in reverse.

What the secret did for me was make me more aware of using words like "can't" and "try" and help me understand how they set you up for failure.

I also have a "wish board" of things I hope to acquire or accomplish. Like DCrist says, it's not going to magically bring them to you, but it is a great visual reminder of the goals you're working towards.

I am a long-time fan of Norman Vincent Peal's "Power of Positive Thinking." It was around long before The Secret. It's more faith-based than the movie, but he had the same ideas.

Good luck in your goals!

Yeah, my daughter thought the movie was a little melodramatic, too, but she liked it enough to buy a used copy and loan it to me.

I'd love to have a vision board, but I got to clear the clutter off the overflowing board that I've got...

I was disappointed that they didn't go into the history of the secret. The trailers and the beginning of the movie made that part sound so interesting.

Wayne W. Dyer was on PBS TV. He had similar thoughts to this movie. I was going to buy one of his books used, but I figured... it would only end up on my to do list and make more clutter...

Anyone read or like Wayne W. Dyer's books? What's the best one to start with?

Haha, that's because there is no History to it. That's all made up to make the movie more interesting and to make it seem mystical or something. Many of the people they mentioned have probably used positive thinking as a tool in accomplishing what they did, but there's no book with "the secret" written in it that has been hidden and passed on for ages. That's just hollywood MonkeyMonk, sorry.

I have many of Dr. Dyer's books on CD and they are all great and I highly recommend his books/CD's.:thumb: A great one to start with is "Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life". Here's a link to it on his publisher's site:

I've watched The Secret several times. If nothing else it re-enforces the power of positive thought. I don't necessarily think you'll get a million dollars and a mansion if you just believe you will, but releasing mental barriers and not telling yourself you can't anymore is a good thing :). I think anything is possible, and it's good to remember that!

Have any of you seen Happiness Prescription by Depack Chopra? I liked it too. Here's a link:

Oh, and another one that's eye opening "Zetgeist Addendum":
