Lots of very good information in these videos from a medical professional, but there are a few things with which I take issue.
First, the Dr. seems to think that there is an inherent danger to all smokeless
tobacco products, but studies in Sweden with regard to the use of Snus don't seem to support that position. Each smokeless
tobacco product seems to have it's own profile when it comes to the harm related to the use of that product. Using the generalization of harm from smokeless tobacco use the way he did shows a bit of ignorance, or he at least did not express himself very well otherwise.
Second, why even bring up 3rd hand smoke in the conversation? Anyone remotely capable of critical thinking knows that this topic is purely an ANTZ war cry and doesn't really have any relevance in the discussion of harm from smoking. Unless you live in an area that is completely devoid of automobile traffic and industrial factories (way out in the country), the added exposure to smoke related particles absorbed fabrics and other materials poses no real additional threat to your health. Even if you are lucky enough to live on a horse ranch with clean air and water somewhere in the mid-west, just give it a few years and some fossil fuel energy company will be sure to change that for you. Then you won't be so worried about 3rd hand tobacco residue any longer.
Finally, as others have said, these videos were framed in a manner in which they are an advert for the Smoke Stick brand, and I would have much rather seen a medical professional create more of a public service type message. With that said, any bits of truth that we can get from the medical community of the harm reduction of commercial nicotine products is a good thing, so this is just a minor annoyance.
One of the things I really liked in the videos was his position on how parents should approach their children with regard to the use of e-cigs. This hit home with me because it's exactly the way I explained it to my nieces and they were very supportive of my decision to make a positive change in my lifestyle. Even at the ages of 6 and 7, they understood the health issues of smoking and quickly grasped the concept of harm reduction via
vaping. There were other important points he brought up in the videos as well, but this one was my favorite.
