I'm sorry, I think I may have mistaken one group for another. The core people of both groups, though, are essentially the same - so you can see where my confusion was. I do believe it was the Canadians Against the Ban group.. I left them both so I can't see anymore. I will edit my last post accordingly - oopsie!

There are 4 facebook Canadian ecig groups on the go right now.

Yes - the core group is often made up of similar people - but ECTA has less than 1/2 of the number of members as the other group (where a discussion got out of hand the other night) - and many are specific to the ECTA group.

So far the discusions involve -
- comments on an ecig article
- open discussion to share personal views on ecig/eliquid compliance
- a hilarious article on caffeine inhalers

and a bunch of typical jibber jabber

Thank you Chelly, for posting that. I too have been very confused with some of the posts in different 'groups'.

The very sad thing is, I'm about ready to withdraw my support from any such cause/group. :(

I am now an ex smoker. That is 100% because of e-cigs. :D

I never, Ever, EVER, thought I would be able to quit. If it was designed/prescribed/recommended to quit smoking, I tried it. That equated to yet another failure for me & whatever amount of $$$ I got scammed for.

I lived in guilt. My biggest fear was to have to see the hurt & helpless look in my families eyes, when I'd have to tell them I was dying of lung cancer.

I don't have that guilt now. (insert PROUD SMILEY)

I will not waist my energy/time on people/groups who want to try to rape that time/life energy from me and my family, or any other Person who has gotten to this point.

If you force me, I will go under ground! If you dare so try to stop me. Good luck! You will lose.

If you attempt to push me and the like of me, be careful. You may have taken on your biggest opposition.

I don't believe the website is up yet, I have been following closely on FB now that the trolling of ECTA bashers has subsided. It also seems that one of the individuals above that was doing some bashing in the FB group has been banned here on ECF. This association is going to be the best thing for electronic cigaretthe vendors and consumers in Canada and we should all behind it 100%. They will be paving the way for us to be able to purchase and use our product of choice without prejudice, that is something we all want and should not defame or speak ill of it, yet some fell the need. United we stand devided we WILL fall. Show your support , I am sure the people behind the closed doors will be opening them as soon as they are able to.:)

Just to clarified, yes that is the web site but is under still construction. Since this was started by vendors, There is little time for us to work on it and have since have hired someone to work on the site.
Once the site is completed, We will have quite a bit of information. it will be similar to Cassa in a way but with all the Canadian ingredient and Canadian related law.

For now you can find us at: Log in | Facebook
ECTA is advertising this via facebook for 2012. Next year - we will organize a bit more activity for the day and offer specials, advertise meets and use our website (currently under construction), youtube, blogs and vape channels to promote better awareness.

Thank you for your quick response.

While I appreciate the need for confidentially in regards to the business plan of of the trade association itself, I am only requesting a list of the board of directors, which is publicly available information and is required to be filed with the government within 15 days of any change anyway. I should have been clear that the books I was referring to were the minute books, containing the Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, Registered Office and List or Directors (Form 6). Sorry about the confusion.

I did a lookup today for your trade association name, but could not find an exact match, unless it is registered under 'ECTA RESEARCH AND ACTION OF CANADA INC.'. I am assuming that is not the trade association name even though it was registered in December last year since it only lists 3 directors, where I understand there are now 10.

Please kindly provide the name the trade association is registered under and I will do my own research from there so as not to bother you too much more :)

Thank You

I'm still waiting on this info too.

Hi, all,

I don't know how helpful this will be, in the grand scheme of things, but I can't see any reason not to provide this information, since it's already out there anyway.

If anyone is interested to know the 'model' for ECTA, then I can tell you that it is virtually the same as the model for ECITA (EU) Ltd. Some of you may have heard of ECITA, and be familiar with my work in Europe. For those that aren't, my blog has a huge amount of information, and can be found here: ECITA Blog - UK Vapers (apologies to the moderators of ECF for posting a link to a different forum, but under the circumstances, I hope you will agree that it is relevant, and some considerable way removed from spamming!)

I am now bringing my team to Canada to do the same for the Canadian industry. We have a significant amount of experience in dealing with government policy-makers of different stripes, and are absolutely confident that the law is on our side. We will be doing absolutely everything we possibly can to ensure that the Canadian industry is able to grow and thrive, specifically so that Canadian citizens can continue to have access to high quality ecig products.

As soon as the ECTA Board is able to provide more information to you, then I am sure they will, but you must understand that this kind of 'project' takes a very long time. (Fortunately, it takes less time than it takes for government wheels to grind, but it is a lengthy process nevertheless!)

So in short, if you want to know what ECTA is about, look at ECITA - for good or bad, that is what ECTA is all about, and I must confess I am very proud of what ECITA has achieved so far.

I sincerely hope this helps, and look forward to helping your vendors help all of you. :)

Happy vaping, one and all,

Katherine

I am thrilled to hear that you're heading up to the northern arm of the empire to help ECTA (and by extension the rest of us) achieve their goals and perhaps get the stuffy gits in parliament to see reason. I really do hope you can do for us and ECTA what you've done for the ECITA and the UK as a whole.
