"Before he quietly and timely exited office on January 20, one of former President Donald Trump’s last acts in office was to threaten the business models of both the nicotine and the marijuana vaporizing industries.

And it’s quite likely neither Trump nor most of Congress knew what they were doing.

What happened?

On Dec. 27, 2020, a little more than a week before the deadly Jan. 6 US Capitol riots, Trump signed into law the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021.

Along with cash for COVID-19 relief and to avoid a government shutdown during the pandemic, the 5,000-page, $2.3 trillion spending bill included an update to the “Prevent All Cigarette Trafficking,” (or PACT) Act.

A decade-old law that makes shipping tobacco products via the U.S. mails or private carriers like FedEx or DHL more costly and difficult, the PACT Act was written before the vaping craze, before cool-mint and mango-flavored JUUL became popular at high schools, and before the accompanying moral panics..........."

Stay awake people - Apparently the vaping industry is not giving up.
Shipping methods will be found.

Meantime legal and political solutions should be studied - If, as I believe, and there is some evidence of, certain special interests
{ie. Michael blumberg and his anti-vape, anti-tobacco cartels backed by his billions} are in fact interfering with the truth and backing {paying off} certain politicians to achieve his goals - then he is engaged in illegal operations, and once exposed can be neutralized.

Let's not give up !!!

Stuff like this is why all bills that Congress votes on and that go to the President for signature should have one and only one subject/purpose. Right now, what happens is that things which could never pass stand-alone gets buried into some other "must pass" legislation.

I read, here and elsewhere, that the mailing ban had already passed congress on separate votes - And that tacking it onto the stimulus bill made no difference - Someone even gave a rundown of the politicians and backers who promoted it - It was bi-partisan.

Even if that was the case, would the President have signed it as a stand-alone bill?

The beauty of stand-alone bills is that people can hold politicians responsible for their actions on that particular issue if it's important to them. With giant "omnibus" bills that are "must pass", this is much more difficult. In fact, it's often not clear that the Congresscritters voting on them and the Executive signing them really know what's in them.

I would bet good money 90% of the ones who voted for the bill had absolutely no idea what was in it.

That's the genius of politicians with agendas. They sneak their personal pet agenda into a 5000 page bill, it becomes law, and no one is the wiser.

Except the ones doing the sneaking and the ones who are affected.
