I've been getting around three tanks. But it's more because I feel like rewicking than anything. Just rewicked this fella couple mins ago

Having more success with rayon and Ni200 builds!

Anyone here been building the Erl with the nickel wire for the DNA 40? It's so different, I really haven't got a good build with it yet.

I have done contact coils and spaced coils. Both have worked fine for me with the Erlk. I struggled a bit at first as I am sure pretty much everyone will. At least a little bit as we are now throwing temp control into the equation. I have found it to be a very cool vape even at 24w and 500F.

For my builds I am using 30g, 3mm id, 10 wraps and wicking with rayon.

Not really sure what the issue is, need to rip it apart and make sure all my contacts are good. At least one of the fellas in the DNA40 thread reports that since my screen isn't wonked out it doesn't sound like a bad board. I think I just need to spend a little more time dialling it in.

Yeah, if you are having issues and haven't seen a garbled screen my guess would be that there is a connection issue somewhere.

I missed the double insertion method of splitting the wick in two and inserting it in both sides. Can someone briefly explain or refer to the post? If not I'll search for it in the morning. Thanks.

Not much to explain really... you pick the amount of rayon you usually use, divide it in two parts longitudinally, twist the ends so they are pointed and thin, insert each one from oposite sides through the coil at the same time. As you pull both ends, the pressure will be equally distributed from both sides so that the coil will remain more or less unstressed keeping its initial shape. Another advantage is that both sides will end up with the same density and the highest density will be at the center (inside the coil) which is what we want.

If you want to find the pages with more relevant info, search for "double insertion", "double pen", "double penetration" and "perverts", you should find the posts pretty fast :D

I'm sure I'll have some very interesting search results searching for some of those phrases. Lol

Even with loads of rayon down the channels it wicks like nobody's business. I'm still getting leaks after 2 days of usage though :( I don't get it, when it starts emptying out it juice drops start coming out of the airholes :'(
Regardless of rayon/cotton, I use very little wick down the channel on the ErlQ, it's extremely short and wispy.
This is with anything from 60/40 to 30/70 pg/vg juice.
I just make sure the main wick sitting above the channels will "seal" it off when the chimney is installed.

Excellent, just placed my order for the VS DNA 40, look forward to trying some builds with it and the ni200. Now its all about the wait!!

Hopefully, yours will come with a good chip. Evolv had a bad batch with the initial release.

It is an awesome device when the chip is good.

Ni200 was a little tough to build with at first for me but like anything with rebuilding, once learned it is second nature.

Then of course, throw in TC and there's another learning curve. One must dial in TC as well as wattage for each juice.

If you haven't already, I'd suggest reading through the DNA40: An Intro thread in the Variable Voltage sub-forum below the APV forum.

I've been trying to keep an eye on the DNA 40 thread as well as I was very interested in the technology associated with the idea of temp control and a different build medium!! I've only been building with the kanthal for such a small while that I'm not sure I've got it all down the way I feel comfortable with but at the same time I also want to be able to be well versed in everything I have in my arsenal as well!! These are very exciting times in the world of vape and I'm excited to be involved in it !! As always , I'm all about safety first and I will be diligent in all I read and do with this new technology....... well new to me anyway!!!

Franken mod? I like the sound of that. as far as back ups, I don't really have dedicated back ups, I just have my regular devices that I use all the time. My erlk is number 1, erlp is number 2, so I guess all others are so called back ups. A normal day at work I take 4 mods, two are the erlk and erlp, the other two can either be 2 kayfuns, or a kayfun and an aqua, or a fogger and aqua, or 2 aquas. The only dedicated combination of mod/atty that I use in a specific circumstance, like out on the town set up, is the wae and nano erlk, that's my stealth set up, but I also use that set up every day at work
I take my reo+trident v2 to work and leave the rebuildable tanks at home. Once I land on an rta that is 100% reliable, sure I'll take it out. Right now my rotation is either the above reo combo, or my p3+silo.
I have a squape reloaded on the way as well as the wide deck. Very optimistic, been eyeing the squape reloaded for months

Kewl, Thanx for the input jax. I only had the one response over in the DNA40 thread so it's reassuring. Hope to get some tinkering time later today. There have been periods where it was functioning correct for awhile so I'm hopeful.

Where Miami came up just a wee bit short, Florida shall succeed. I mean with all the autograph and points shaving moneyz Jameis should be able to pay for the crab legs. And if he is dining his date with such nice seafood maybe she'd be a little more willing?

Actually the credits should go to Aal_ as he came up with this on the rayon thread, I believe.

I just applied it to the erlkoenigin / erlprinz (and now any other atty I own) :)
