So I just watched Todd's review of the Kayfun v4 and all I have to say is "Well, now I'm very happy I bought the erlkönigin back in July instead of waiting until December to see what Svoemesto came up with."

I mean, sure, the proof of the atomizer is in the vaping - and I look forward to seeing some hands-on comparisons when somebody (probably named Qorax) picks one up - but it would have to significantly outperform (like "compares to an erlkönigin the way the Queen compares to a Stardust") before I'd consider buying one. That AFC is just so many kinds of wrong...

I have been following the KF4 story quite seriously | http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/rebuildable-atomizer-systems/625777-svo-mesto-kayfun-4-a.html | and let me tell you - compared to it our Erlks give 'simplicity' a whole new meaning while keeping the vape experience above par!

Wow. I agree. I just watched it and it seems like most of the complexity is to have the ability to

1) get to your build with fluid in the system

2) different connectors

For the 1st I guess it was a major drawback for some, but not for me. I just either waited until I finished the liquid or just used a syringe to take the liquid out. You are most likely to swap builds where you have your tools, so that never was an issue.

Given the complexity and the need for so many more o-rings and spare parts just in case, I'm not so sure anymore.

I wonder whether the kayfun v4 lite will just have specific connectors - 510, p3, semovar as separate units to cut down on the price?

What strikes me about it is that the complexity doesn't feel (well, look, I guess) needful - I'm left with the impression that the driving impetus behind the design was "Let's make it as complex as possible to make it harder to knock off" (seriously, good luck with that, guys - I'm sure the counterfeiters in Shenzhen will have a counterfeit on the market by Christmas) rather than being designed with the end-user in mind.

Haha, took the GG route, did they? ;)

Hilarious how quickly opinions on the upcoming Kayfun V4 changed in a day. Literally every thread about it yesterday was excited, and now today it's just underwhelmed or disappointment.

My opinion hasn't completely changed. It's become a lot less enthusiastic though. I don't design these things so my opinion is from an outsider viewpoint, but the system seems needlessly ridiculously complex. More complexity means more points of failure. Imagine you dropped it and it starts leaking. Suddenly you are potentially looking at replacing multiple parts through trial and error since they seem to be so closely interlinked.

Now if they improved the vape with this complexity, that's one thing, but Todd wasn't blown away. My 3 cents.

Yep, I was so all in on this!! Now, I'm a bit more tempered on it. The pictures were beautiful, Todd's video was very precise in its breakdown and understanding of how it functions. For that price, I would seriously consider another authentic erlk before the V4.

The fact you can physically shut off the juice flow is an innovation. It doesn't rely on air pressure / vacuum during a refill. However at what expense? To me it looks overworked, complicated and with a high part count. It's definitely Russian by the solid look as opposed to the erlk which definitely looks more German. In a battlefield the kayfun would probably win but in day by day use, the erlk just looks lighter and more user friendly.

Not saying I won't get a kf at some point but I see no real innovation that makes me want one right now.

Tony

Erlkonigin Nano + IBTanked Pyrex (1.5mm Glass-Wall)
note: I did notice, bubbles come up much more free-fast-smooth. Maybe its the inside diameter - a little wider than the stock tank.

That looks beautiful actually. Almost same size as RDA.

I been following this thread, Lemo and Orchid trying to decide which one to go next.

I'm saving up for the ErlQ Nano right now. I want that 3mL capacity in the size of a dripper.

I currently have an Orchid, and I will say this much. You don't wick this like most RTA's.(Similar to an Erl in that fashion) The first day or two you will curse whatever SOB created the Orchid, while is pours freaking juice right out of the airholes despite the laws of physics saying it shouldn't. Once you figure out the wicking though, it'll never leak again and it's actually a pretty great vape.
