Well, the Erlk and Erlp definitely have staying power in my rotation. The only other gear that has been competing for their attention for quite a while now are my drippers, but they're definitely tops of my list for all-around use as I only really drip when I'm at home
Now I broke down and got a Flask, so I'm looking to experiment some with Ni200 coils. Any particular pointers for nickel builds in these from those that have had good results? Is thicker wire absolutely necessary or will the 32ga I have on hand work just fine? I feel like a n00b all over again
Here's my experience with the Erl and nickel builds. I have 28, 30 and 32g nickel.
Of course, as soft as nickel is, I started with the 28g single strand, 10 wrap contact coil, 3mm mandrel and didn't dry fire it. Was hitting TP almost immediately and getting some awful hits.
Next build was the same except I dry fired it before wicking. Did this with TP off and watts set to 10. It was a little better as it didn't hit TP quite as fast but still got some nasty hits. Black gunk leeched into the first tank as well.
Next build was the same except a spaced coil. Buggered up a couple of coils attempting to wick with rayon. Switched to KGD. Good vape.
I wanted to use my rayon so I decided to try twisting. I had never done anything twisted prior to this. I twisted 2 strands of 30g, 8 wraps, spaced coil, 3mm ID, wicked with rayon. Ohms out to .14-.16Ω. Set my Flalk to 480F & 28w. Perfect vape!
Now, since you don't have 30g I would suggest a triple wrap of 32g. I did this on a KFL because of the small deck. 5 wraps, 3mm mandrel came out to .09-.1Ω. I typically like to keep within the manufacturer's specs so I will build it with 6 wraps next time.
I found the Erl to be very stable using nickel. Just make sure you really crank down on the coil lead screws.
Good luck and post any questions you may have.
