Well, it's done. Order placed.

Got the steel drip tip version. Added a o-ring seal kit, drip tip adapter, and a clear glass tank.

Now to wait for it to ship!

Congrats! Did you also order the "open Pos Pole"? That's a must if you're intending to use it on TP mode, b'coz TP works better with greater airflow.

One thing about connectivity:

Although the erlprinz has a farther protruding positive pin than the erlkonigin, on some mods that might be still not enough in tp mode. I had to add an extra spacer to make a really solid connection with my mod.

Just a heads-up since the connection might be ok for kanthal but not steady enough for a ni build :)

I'd suggest - grab it. It helps. Shoot them an email ~ and use my name - prolly they'd add it for Free ;)

Lol. Thanks! I had actually already emailed them, but I do appreciate the advice.

That's actually one of the improvements I hope to see with an Erlk over my Russian 91% -- increased airflow. I don't want huge airflow (already have a dripper for that), but a bit more than the stock Russian 91% can provide.

Thanks again for all the effort you've put into this thread. Makes me feel like I have some good guidance going into this!

What sort of spacer did you use? Just curious as I'm about to embark down this same path.

The Erlk already has [near]double the airflow vis-a-vis KFL+ / R-91.

Thanks for the info.

I've gotten some pretty good results using 28 gauge nickel (spaced coils) in my Lemo Drop. In fact, when it worked, the nickel has been amazing for flavor and temp protection is a huge leap forward, in my humble opinion.

It looks like the build deck is slightly smaller on the Erlk, so I'm guessing that perhaps I'll have to experiment with contact nickel coils.

Your questions have been answered but I'll throw my :2c: in here anyway.

I have 4 authentic Erls and all work perfectly with Ni200. As you know, connections are key when it comes to nickel builds and achieving steady resistance. To that end, I bought a set of jeweler's precision phillips head screw drivers to crank down on the coil leads. The Erl's 510 pin sticks out ever so slightly so I went ahead and installed the provided washer (under a sticker on the side of the box) on all of mine.

I prefer spaced coils with nickel myself. Initially, I was using 28g spaced coils but found them rather hard to wick without destroying the coil. I have since started using dual twisted 30 gauge and it's helped a lot. I'm not sure how much of this thread you've read so I'll post these images again.

I have the 2mm posi post installed and have removed the afc ring as well to acquire as much air flow as possible and really like it. I vape 70-80% VG juices so to help with wicking I don't put anything down the vertical channels. I also do not install the "wick ring".

Wow! Thanks so much.

I know I've seen photos of your twisted 30 gauge coils before, perhaps in the VS rDNA thread. I have 28, 30 and 32 gauge nickel wire, and have mainly settled on 28 gauge, spaced coils. However, like you, I've found that they tend to be somewhat hard to wick without destroying.

My other main atty for nickel builds is a Lemo. While it has a nice large deck, and wicks extremely well, the fussing necessary to get it a stable resistance is something I'm looking to avoid. Plus, since I have the drop version, the capacity means I'm constantly refilling, which usually means more fussing to get the resistance stable again.

Overall, I'm really looking forward to a large capacity tank that has a nice stable resistance. Not to mention the ability to refill easily is appealing!

I contacted them and requested that they add the open draw positive post to my order. Now to wait for shipping notification. I noticed that the open draw positive post had a lead time of around 5 days, so I may be waiting a bit before everything is ready to ship. I feel like a little kid at Christmas!

Thanks again everyone for all the good info! I'm going to have lots to try when it gets here!

Actually it's the head...

JIS and Philips look almost the same but are different. A JIS (Japanese Industry Standard) driver will work on both Philips and JIS screws but a Philips driver will start to strip a JIS screw head.
The difference is how the cross wall between each adjacent arm is made. Philips heads are angled because they were designed to tighten up to at certain torque at which the driver will slip out. Call it basic torque mechanism.
The JIS screws however are cut strait between the adjacent arms and are used in the automotive industry as they allow being tighten down further without stripping.

When in doubt, always use a JIS driver because it won't damage either screw.

Nice. And there I thought all one had to really worry about was matching the threads machined into the deck and the general shape/profile of the screw head.

Thanks I had no idea about JIS vs. Phillips

I guess with screws this small, wishing for a Torx head is sorta like... "dream on!" :)

I'm guessing you could find Torx screws that would fit. But I'd be worried about stripping out the screw holes with something like torx. I'd rather the screw head get mangled from a JIS driver than have enough torque to do serious damage! :)

I know it may not effect the vape quality, but those are the cleanest ni builds I have seen. Take pride in those skills Jax and thx for posting. Wish you were local because I am a hands-on type of learner.

I feel bad that I hardly check this thread anymore. I've found my unicorn and I've been in vape stupor for weeks now!

I also feel bad that I haven't even touched my other mods since I got the MiniStick... not even my beloved Heron which I still adore...

But tonight I am catching up on this thread and enjoying some local spirits :) vape on Erl family!
