Been about 5 weeks here and no bill, so I must be one of the lucky ones *phew* Never gotten hit with any handling/customs charge before, ordered from all over the EU in the past. Of course, now that I said that I'll probably get hit with a charge when I get around to ordering Erlk #2

well Erli has made it out of Germany and is now in CINCINNATI Customs. Least it's in the states.

Sweet! Only a day or two more.

Wicked properly, and you'll be in love.

[edit] Wait a minute! Look who I am talking to. Dice! The person that got me hooked onto the easiest wicking substance I have found thus far. As JeremyR would say ... R A Y O N! :D [/edit]

:lol::lol: , k, hang on I need a vape, :vapor::vapor::vapor: sorry about that, had to change out 2 stingrays and the Tree of Life 26650 batts. much better,

K, umm, who do you think taught Jeremy, one of my longest and dearest fiends on the ecf, but any who, :vapor::D

Apologies, just can't stop laughing  , the finer subtleties of wicking?

Like his rayon ok, but much prefer ramie. Fact have a 0.42 build in two flashi 2's, exact same, one with ramie and one with rayon. Both fibers wick at the same level, properly wicked, can't tell which fiber is which. Ramie, while takes a bit more understanding, is Very heat tolerant. Where as with rayon, you'll blow the fiber, vaporize instantly, inside the coil, when she goes dry at 75 watts or so. Right now have both to see which has the best longevity, suspect it will be ramie, since have had builds that used the same ramie wick for that long.

Oh, Erli got through Cinn. in 3 hrs, next stop Seattle. That was at 5 pm Tuesday. So probably Thursday or Friday. Going to use the exact same build as the flashi, but will be using Ramie fiber. Erli was made for Ramie.:D. Least that's my diaganosis after sizing her up, and she spoke to me in my vape vision, and said Yes dice, oh yes!! RAMIEIZE ME.!! But then, Rose is the same way:D

Just a heads up on my personal experience with my 2-day-old Erly: I should have paid a bit more attention to the numerous posts about just how folks are wicking this thing. Instead, I fell victim to my own overconfidence figuring that I could wick anything with my eyes closed. Not so. The Erly is different and seems to require a significant wick-habit adjustment that when realized is surely easy enough to maintain and repeat.....I mean, everything else about the Erly is so darn easy. But it's different. Wickwise.

And maybe it's all about that thin "juice control ring".......I'm just guessing here, but maybe it acts like a sort of secondary deck, creating two perfect little juice entry holes, and just like a Kayfun, you don't want to really obstruct those deck-holes at all or else you'll be on your way to dry-hit-city posthaste.

Today's build is a BEAST:

Is it the wick or the coil? I changed the way I fashioned both, so I couldn't say for sure.......

Coil: parallel(2 strands side-by-side) 29g 7-wrap 3/32" ID Then raised up to ~2+ mm above deck. 0.7ohms

Wicked with Rayon but using the method for cotton as spelled out in excellent detail by Qorax: Split tail ends, chop one off, taper the one that's left so that when it's pressed into the vertical channel, none of it poofs out beyond the chimney threads.

The flavor -- and cloud production when pushing at least 27W -- is absolutely on a whole nother level.

Wicking material has become as bad as drippers, there's a new "IT" material every couple of weeks...silica, ekowool, xc116, organic cotton, hemp, ramie, sterile cotton, rayon, Japanese cotton, cotton bacon..... more I'm sure, and that's just in the last year I've been vaping. LOL

Yeah, tell me about it!

Hmm...think I screwed up today's rewick - tons of vapour, but getting an odd aftertaste (cottony? muted? hard to describe) and only getting bubbles from one side of the tank. Happily I only added a ml or two of liquid for my test-vape (got to love how easy this thing is to fill on the fly). Before I tear it down and try again, diagnosis from the experts here? I'm thinking too much cotton, but not sure (if you look up "total n00b to rebuildables" on Wikipedia you'll find my picture.)

You sure are combusting cotton in that case. Probably too much wick inside the coil.
