This is from the USPS site ... not real 'clear' about adult signature vs: any signature.

screen-shot-2019-11-15-at-8-22-55-am-png.852073

Please remember that the proposed Bill S.1253 will prohibit the USPS from accepting vapor products altogether. The USPS will be totally out of business of delivering tobacco products--tobacco, cigarettes, cigars and e-cigarettes. We'll have to deal with private carriers--much more expensive and adult signature upon delivery will be required. This is exactly the same as the PACT Act of 2010.

From the Bill:

SEC. 3. NONMAILABILITY OF ELECTRONIC NICOTINE DELIVERY SYSTEMS.

(a) Regulations.—Not later than 120 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the United States Postal Service shall promulgate regulations to clarify the applicability of the prohibition on mailing of cigarettes under section 1716E of title 18, United States Code, to electronic nicotine delivery systems, in accordance with the amendment to the definition of “cigarette” made by section 2.

(b) Effective Date.—The prohibition on mailing of cigarettes under section 1716E of title 18, United States Code, shall apply to electronic nicotine delivery systems on and after the date on which the United States Postal Service promulgates regulations under subsection (a) of this section.

AND - Just in case, people don't know - Ya' can even track where the delivery truck is and how close they are to your place that day now (UPS supplies a link to the webpage which self updates as soon as the truck stops at any destination on the way too) . . . Matter of fact, the other day, I meet the delivery man at the door as he approached "My" apartment and asked what took him so long . . . Of course, he gave me a strange look and that's when I told him that I could see him driving all over the area and where he was delivering "stuff" all day and finally into the complex via the UPS Website . . . I could tell he knew nothing about this given his expression. . . As he turned to leave, all I could do was laugh to myself . . . BTW: IMHO - I think this is a great advantage for all of "Us" no matter where we live, especially so "We" don't have to wait around until they arrive with our "Stuff" . . . Just Sayin' . . .

I want to make clear the above information is about UPS deliveries and "Adult" signatures - Not USPS . . .

As for USPS - You can be informed about both mail & packages being delivered to you that day if Ya' sign up for the service: https://informeddelivery.usps.com/box/pages/intro/start.action

Also - When tracking a package via USPS, you can get emails during it's trip to your front door and/or mail box: ADD/Search Tracking number - 3 option down under details: Track History - Under that you can, Click All or what notices you want to recieve - Then enter your Name & Email address - Get Updates emailed to you when the package moves through system and where it is at the time and when it will be delivered . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;)

However, speaking about package deliveries - "Our" postal person refuses to deliver packages to your Apartment, no matter whether or not it requires an "Adult" signature . . . Matter of fact, they "Shove" & "STUFF" the small express boxes/padded envelopes into your mailbox and if it hinders the opening of the box (turn the key to get the door open) they don't care . . . Numerous times all the tenants have experienced this problem and had to go the the supervisor at the PO to complain to get the issue resolved . . . It is then that the postal worker moves all the mail into the Parcel boxes . . . :-x :censored:

And Uncle and Iron Molly sure have different experiences using it. One worked, one didn't.

IMO - It maybe because I live in a "Senior" apartment complex and that although it is a 55 an older community - most of the time anyone moving in must be 62 or older unless they are handicapped and all the deliver people know that . . . So they just drop off the package at your door, run away and signed for the package themselves (especially the younger ones) to get to their next stop . . . . Just Sayin' . . .

The place I'm in is similar, but all mail goes to the reception desk who then sort it out for the residents, so there's always an adult to sign. Also, IME, UPS and Fedex are pretty lax about adult signatures by me, it's just a signature that it's been delivered. Again, everyone here is over 55 as well so not a big deal. But I do feel bad for folks who don't have anyone around to sign or a lazy postal worker who won't even try to get a signature and force you to travel to the post office for your package.

Isn't Trump all bent out of shape about business, especially Amazon (which actually uses USPS for the last mile by me on many packages), not using USPS? So now they take more business away from them and shift it to other carriers. Congress is getting more schizophrenic every day. Someone needs to add meds to the water supply lines to the Capitol.

The mail-lady doesn't ask for my ID, even on adult delivery.. But then, I'm fairly certain people can tell I'm over 21.. darn it.

And my husband with his flowing grey beard - well forget about it. People giggle when he tells them he's not 21. Thank God they dont laugh at me yet.. lol
the rule here if you "look" over 25 i think it is (18 is adult, but some people look older) then they don't have to check

but they can't look with a sig over the net

Oh man, I am fighting THIS one.

UPS has gotten SO freaking greedy in my area (and I am rural) well guess what, they CHARGE you to take it back to the UPS facility at the end of the night, and like, it's three fifty but like, that adds up and it is INFURIATING they are going there ANYWAY.

I am not home during the week. I have tried, desperately, to like contact UPS and even GONE to the store to see if it can be shipped directly to that location but the website is this oubliette of like circular pages, and the UPS store is like "Oh, we don't know how to help you."

They are crooks. ARGH.

Most of my amazon(prime) packages are delivered by an Amazon van. The ones shipped directly from the the seller come ups or usps.

Sign up for a UPS account. You can then go to tracking for a package and have it delivered to a designated holding place (can’t recall what they call it, but it’s obvious). Closest to me, Walgreens ,CVS and the little local neighborhood grocery all hold packages till you can get there ((take that porch pirates!) UPS drivers like it because they can leave a bunch at one place.

I have an account but it was somewhat accidental because like, I was trying to sign up for a UPS account, distracted. Like create a shipping label and stuff. There's probably a lot of remediation that needs to be done.

I have never seen an Amazon van and never knew the even EXISTED.

The USA is really rather large.

They definitely exist. Amazon started using their own delivery drivers in areas where they had a high density of customers such as my northern base in Montgomery county PA a couple of years ago. Initially, it seemed to be with private contractors using their own vehicles, but lately it's Amazon vans driven by people who are presumably Amazon employees. This summer we started seeing them down at our place in Florida as well.

When they started with the private vans here, many MANY people called the police about random vans in people's driveways. It wasn't helped by the fact that they take a picture of the package on your porch. They had nothing at all identifying them as Amazon contractors. Surprised no one got hurt! I haven't noticed if they have Amazon vans now or not.

I have had probably at least 10 different Amazon deliveries in the past 2 weeks and about half were the Amazon van, one was USPS on a Sunday (handed off to them by UPS), the rest were UPS.

Yup. Some of those private vans were not in the best condition, and some of their drivers looked less than respectable.

UPS delivers and drops my packages on the porch behind a column or next to the garage door where a boxwood blocks the view from the street. Since I retired I usually hear them coming and walk out to get it.

We had some crooks stealing mail and packages as well as power lawn tools and other items a few years ago. One of them drove down my driveway and walked into the garage. I opened the door and asked him if I could help him. He suddenly realized that he was at the wrong house and I asked him where he was supposed to be. He couldn't supply me with a name and turned around to get into his car. I took a phone picture of him before he left and a picture of his car showing the tag number.

About 30 minutes after I called the Sheriff's department to report it I got a call from their office telling that he had been apprehended thanks to the info I gave them. He had a hatchback full of yard and woodworking tools he had stolen. He was out on probation and was returned to jail with additional time to be added for his current thefts. I didn't even have to testify against him because the items he was carrying matched serial numbers reported by other homeowners.

Had a private Amazon driver once have her dog with her. When I stepped out to get my package she was letting it do its business in my front lawn. Now we have the real Amazon vans, and they make the drivers wear those yellow vests. Makes me think of France...
The lead story on one of the Nashville news stations the other night was an Amazon delivery guy taking a leak on a customer's driveway after dropping off a package on the doorstep. All was captured on a home security camera.

I understand the customer being upset, but the lead story on the 10 p.m. news? We live in strange times.

The delivery people (here at least) in their own vehicles (usually only see them during high order times like after Black Friday) wear Amazon vests. The vans are big blue panel vans with a giant Amazon logo on the side. I see them driving all around. They also do the fresh grocery deliveries from Whole Foods.

That's kind of like the old "man bites dog" story with a human element. News people like to get a laugh out of the audience here and there.
