Hmm you need to ask yourself why do cigarettes look the way they are?

Because they work very very very well.

Small, light and require a quick draw.

(good performing) Mini ecigs are the future of vaping.

Please go to Alibaba(check out Smoktech, Kanger, and Boge Tech and look at their product showcases) and you will see even the companies that started out making the mini e-cigs have moved on to bigger and better things. Everything on Alibaba is made to order so that tells you what is selling. Joyetech has even started making bigger devices that use 18650 batteries which is the most common big mod battery size.

My Provari is small, light and an even quicker draw than a cigarette (no lighting required)

Have you actually tried anything else other than a cig-alike? If not you dont know what youre missing and thats a shame. Form factor is mostly in your mind.

A small number of people prefer cig-alikes and thats alright, whatever works to get you off of cigarettes.. Whats not is dismissing everything else out of hand based on your own mental roadblock and thinking that you respresent the majority of vapers out there.

Faster draw than an analog? now thats what i am talking about. can you give me details or send me a link of what type or model you have? I am still waiting my first ever eGo T (and e-cig period)in the mail and bought a couple of accessories for it so i most likely won't wanna upgrade for the next 6 months. But I wanna start going through options.

And just to touch on what you were saying earlier, if you take me for instance, when I saw anything about e-cigs it was a blu commercial; I mean I always knew they existed but just never saw any. After that commercial I decided I wanted one. I didn't even look at blu, I just looked for the best rated or most recommended cig-alike ecig. Now at this point I didn't even know anything about ovale's, eGos, tanks, clearomizers, attys, cartos, mods or even the ecig forum. Nothing. All i gathered was that the apollo standard kit was generally referred to as the best cig-alike model out there. How true that is I don't even know and don't care. I just wanted something that would work and would be practical for my needs.

You see the part where after I saw that commercial but still actually went to look for the best cig-alike? Most people that smoke and are new to this won't even do that. They would just go to blu and call it a day. Then the time I now spent researching everything about the apollo standard kit and the tech the drives it, led me to know about cartos, general battery longevity and the limited nature of the carto refillable. I found out that it wasn't as practical for me and I wanted more. Paying more for it wasn't a problem cause I already gathered that eventually my choice would pay for itself.

Then I started looking at the Apollo elips, which is an ovale model type vaper. I spent another few days with that in my cart and learning everything I could about it. It made sense cause it least I didn't feel it was too far off from what an analog could look like. I HATED that it had a button though and was manual. But it made sense, it was refillable and used a tank system. Then I found out it had problems and they ditched the tank system and started using refillable carts (again the damn refillable carts), though they now offer a clearomizers for the elips but my mind was already ruined. concerns of how easy the mouthpiece came off the battery were unacceptable and I was lost again... though willing to still do it and my excuse was that well it was at least my first e-cig.

Then I discovered this forum; my first few posts were really about me wanting to know more about the elips from people that had used them. 10 replies later, and even though they all told me that if my mind was made I should go for it and were wishing me the best, their was an underlying tone of me about to make what they would consider a mistake. What was this eGo I saw in their sigs and that they all seem to say the "moved" up to. Now manuals didn't seem so bad to me anymore, and I now wanted a tank of sorts definitely, so I went back and discovered the eGo. And I havent look back since.

Now the point of this story, besides it being a good how I got hooked story of course, is simple. I was fortunate to make my transition to a more growable higher performing e-cig online before ever having my first ever vape. Most are not. Maybe including you, I am guessing your very first attempt at vaping was primarily on a cig-alike. That simply means that those cig-alikes are really the port of entry to vaping simply because vapers are primarily smokers and they are naturally going for what they are familiar with. This can change though but thats another story. All I was "thinking" (notice I am stating nothing more than an opinion) is that it would be great if in 10 years, that port of entry is better performing all around. That in ten years, people would or should not have to go through what I went through to get to the point I am at. That if I tried picking this up in 10 years, it would have been as simple as me going online and buying whatever commercial i just saw or even the neighborhood store. Its that in ten years, things like the eG0, VV, Mods and special units will not be things that we "have" to do to get at least get an acceptable vaping experience, but rather should be things we do because we want a lil more everything. And for that we are willing to pay a premium or tinker. Nothing wrong with that. And honestly, nothing wrong with the cig-a-likes either.

To be honest though, I really just believe that if you took a thousand smokers that have never seen any kinda e-cig before and put a provari and a blu cig-like in front of them, chances are more of them will pick up the blu first to try it but end up leaving with the better performing provari. I don't know how or why you can't seem to see the problem with that.

I only got the generic because I did not have knowledge of this forum and the many different available options. If I would have been smart, I would have done my homework first. I might have finally quit smoking and found what worked for me a lot sooner.I finally did quit smoking, but I want to continue learning here and experience different upgraded versions of what I currently have. I never want to stop learning.

Same difference. It doesn't matter why you only got the generic minis, thats the whole point!!!! You just did. Even I, I first started looking at the generic minis. Does that make me smarter than you? Absolutely not. I only spend more time checking everything cause we don't have stores here that actually stock on ecigs. If it was as easy as watching a commercial and waltzing into a store and picking up an ecig I would definitely have done that and gone generic. I only ended up with an ego cause since I import nearly everything, I have cultivated the habit of comparing as much is humanly possible and really finding out what doesn't just work for me but that i can live with.

You discovered this forum after you made that first mistake, I am telling you, if we were to make a poll, you will find out that over 90% of the people here joined the forum AFTER buying their first generic e-cig. Whats really scary, is the amount of people that simply just went back to analogs instead of seeking out a forum.

......................................................

Now what baffles me... is it really bad to think or assume based on current developments in tech, some of which I have even posted links to in this thread, based on simple human behavior that even most here today exhibited when the first got into vaping (the devil you know being better than the angel you don't) with them buying something that looked like an analog!! Is it bad to say.... that in ten years with developments in tech, vaping will become generally more practical and they would be able to cram the performance and maybe even double the battery life of a standard eGo system into a cig-alike form factor. And that anyone that picks that up, will have no problem with it at all?

Why is that seemingly so wrong to consider for some here. Especially considering this is all opinion. I say something, someone doesn't like it, they tell me and say why (which coincidentally is also their opinion) and we either agree, agree to disagree or learn from each other. I thought thats what forums were about. Not saying you have done anything funny, and this isn't directed at you. It just tied into what i was talking about with the how you started stuff and what some other members seem to just simply be ignoring.

I apologize if you feel this is/was directed at you in its entirety. Only part that concerns you is probably the first two paragraphs. :)

Do you really think that big tobacco are going let people off the hook allowing them to buy just large ecigs which have battery that last for days and where people can refill their own juice. I don't think so! The big money is in the small ecig market. Once the tech improves enough this thing is going to take off big time. Look at Blu and Njoy they are already going down this path.

They are going to push mini ecigs on to the public where we need to go to a store and buy prefilled carts or maybe they will have disposables.

Sure you should hopefully be able to still by your mods online but they are not the future of vaping (for the masses). The masses will do whats easiest and most convenient and what the shops are selling and whats advertised on TV. Mini ecigs!

It's so obvious I don't know why I get some people here arguing with me.

What we perceive to be the future will be very different to what businesses will see it.

Businesses will need regular purchases to sustain their profits and that will probably entail non refillable cartos.
So a sealed carto that would be thrown away is very likely IMO.
These cartos will have flavours that are unique to them and a guarded secret like Coca Cola's recipe :D

But saying that, I can also see the market being split into to, pretty much like it is now.
There always be a few (not the majority) that will want to get more hands on and be able to refill, swap this for that and tinker with volts, watts and ohms.

QFT. I too believe that both worlds of the ecig conundrum can and will coexits. Things will change on some level, e-liquids will most likely become more expensive to the point that its cheaper to just buy the sealed disposable carts from your local store and screw those on. But the mods will always remain.

What you are saying is something that I at least agree with, though I think your tone is what makes some here feel the need to argue with you lol. But yeah, I too think this is so obvious I don't know why its a problem for some here.

I don't know about you, especially considering my first ever stab at ecigs is not even a cig-alike, But I at least know that the only reason I ended up with an eGo is because the cig-alikes lacked the performance I was looking for. If the tech was there to give me that performance in a much smaller and portable form factor, in a PCC case with social features and what not and all the benefits of an eGo... i would probably not have even needed to seek out a forum like this.

Unfortunately, I think this is lost to some members here, they forget how they started and that they like many others out there, started with the cig-likes.

Unless vaping stands on its own and have devices like the ego VV as their standard primary device, things like the eGo/mods and all the benefits they have will always remain for the enthusiasts. But as long as vapers are referred to as e-cigs, there will simply be more people every year that pick up a cig-like as their first e-cig device period. And not only is that a natural transition, the big tobacco guys know this too, they know that they have a lot less work to do getting people to pick up cig-alikes than showing them a commercial with an eG0 VV/GG or whatever. Its just an easier to market, produce and sell form factor and doesn't try to reinvent the wheel or buck the trend too much. That is where their R&D money will be spent on, especially considering they know that its a medium that will give them more control over the market as opposed to having people change their own wicks and attys or tanks....etc.

Its not something that I expect most here to like, but the logic overall is sound. I am just the messenger so to speak, saying this doesn't mean i don't want/love/support the mods or the bigger better performing devices currently available. As I keep saying, I am new to this but my first purchase is an eGo. I just know that majority of the converts out there, and those that will try e-cigs for the first time this year and beyond.... usually all look at a cig-alikes first. Its only natural. And will remain that way.

This will/may change when provari/ihybrid/GG or any of the other specialized products actually make commercials on tv, youtube, websites and rebrand themselves as vapers and not e-cigs and get that kinda recognition. Get people to say, i am going to buy a vaper and not an e-cig. Get people to not only expect the new form factors but accept them. Till then, they are nothing but a subset of a cigarette alternative.

I think the thing you don't get is that BT doesn't care what size battery or PV you use. Just that you will use their cartridge and/or juice. It is likely that all PV will end up getting smaller due to the advancement of tech. However, just because you like a device that looks like a cig does not mean that is the mainstream. There will probably become a standardization with BT of the cartos and they will be universally used on all devices. You will be able to go into the store and purchase your pack of Winston cartos just like you do a pack of smokes today.

Erncig, ECF is a good broad sampling of people who enjoy vaping and what the market wants. There are people of all ages and social demographics. So the comments that are made here are a reality of what people want, not just your single sided point of view. Even BT will eventually want to get away from the cig-a-like look of the Blu brand. Why? Because they want to get away from the bad stigma that smoking already has and also want to attract new customers to try it that would not think about smoking. BT knows that Nic is addicting, and if they can hook their customers on a PV just as easily as an analog they will do it. Hence the reason for their marketing of Blu.

Now don't get me wrong there will still be cig-a-likes out there, those will be in the market to transition over smokers to PV devices. There will also be mini PV devices that you can slip in your pocket. However, since we are dealing with a tech item there is going to be a wide variety of styles of devices and even pairing of devices because every manufacturer is going to want to create a demand for their device. So competition will cause innovation.

To also address some people who say we won't be able to get our juice because of huge taxes on it. I have to disagree, slightly. Nic, as has been mentioned, can be used for so many other things that PV, such as pest control for organic farmers. That the components of the juice, the pg vg and nic, bought seperately will always be taxed at the normal rates. Plus BP won't let it get taxed to high heaven because that would intern cut into the profit of their gums and patches. That just means that we will just be forced to become DIY juice makers to get around the taxes. But this is only if the FDA and Congress push for big taxes to make up for the lost taxes on BT and analogs.

We will have to see I guess. Lorilard CEO did say his ultimate goal is to create an ecig that when placed on a table side by side with a real one that you can't tell the difference. The mainstream smokers DO want a small cig sized device. Why on earth would they want to use a big weird looking crack pipe in front of their friends or infront of girls? The things I have heard on the street seem to point to my views being correct.

However things can change, we will see.

Erncig, the majority of people on ECF are Mainstream smokers, or rather were. So your personal opinion might be right for your particular group of friends/smokers/aussies. However, that is not the same as it being for all mainstream smokers. Now this is not to say that there won't be the cig-a-likes out there that you want or like. Just that there will also be what the rest of us like. Also I hate to tell you this, none of our PV devices look like crack pipes.

My suggestion to you is to maybe choose your words a bit more carefully. You have a valid opinion. However, the way you are going about voicing it is rather rude to others who also have valid opinions.

For some reason the big mods of today remind of when cel phones used to be like this.

old-cell-phone-1326312870.jpg

Sure they used to get the job done, but when this came along who still wanted those bricks?

cell-phone-3g.jpg

I agree somwhat. But the size of my flip phone from 8 years ago was alot smaller than my touchscreen Samsung. I think there will always be a market for both.

That's a good point. Cel Phones went from giant bricks, to ultra tiny to a bit bigger iphone/android size today, mostly to get a large screen size.

have we forgotten the horrible enviromental impact we will have if vaping devices are DISPOSABLE like cigs. I shudder when I think of millions of pre filled cartos being thrown into the garbage! plastics recycling is not earth friendly. I widh I could buy larger bottles so I dont have dozens of plastic reminders littering my house.

and one more point, we may have started on something that resembked a cig at first, but eventually we all came to LOVE our weird looking devices...they're now part of who we are...not mainstream.

Trish, if people actually recycle then we won't harm the environment. If they throw them away then we will have a harmful effect on the environment. Really it is all a matter of the individual and their actions. I would much rather see someone toss a carto in a recycle bin than see a cig .... thrown on the ground.

True, I have wondered about that too.... 100s of millions of disposable cartos every year? Thats scary. As per your second point, I am definitely in agreement with you; as it stands I don't see myself buying a cig-alike ever unless i can guarantee that I can get a comparable experience from it as i am hoping I would get from my eGo.

But i also see and accept the importance of the cig-alikes and the tech in that field getting much much better. If for nothing else, if really good cig-alikes can make the majority of the people worldwide smoking today pick them up and get that satisfaction from them, then they are at least a very very necessary evil.

Very interesting take on that, or second hand smoke being expelled to an unsuspecting crowd. But that is a really big if though.
