The distinction between correlation and causation is something that was drilled into me as both an undergrad and graduate student. It's something that non-scientists are sometimes confused about, but I can't imagine a working scientist being confused on this issue. Doesn't he teach, like, statistics or something?

It's amazing the the scientific community has gotten so corrupted that Glantz can get peer review approval.

In my reading since joining ECF, I've seen many comments/opinions that the peer review process has in many instances become so politicized as to be ineffective, if not worthless, as an indication of scientific rigor.

Better stated, is there anyone in the scientific community not in bed with big pharma?

If they're not in bed with them yet, they're standing at the bedroom door, taking notes to see how it's done...

Most ANTZ arguments wouldn't pass muster in a grade-school composition class. It's no surprise that their scientific reasoning leaves much to be desired. It's definitely annoying that people can make comfortable livings spewing obvious idiocy, though.

C'est la vie.

From Dr. Siegel.....As we go into the Thanksgiving holiday, I am seriously thinking about why there is a need to continue to do tobacco control research. If we are going to simply conclude what we want to conclude, regardless of the ability of the science to reach such a conclusion, then what's the point of doing the research in the first place?

Isn't this the truth!! "They" claim e-cigs are the wild west! just laughable. Look what all these hypocrites are doing with these studies!
