After one week there are so many differences! Not all good, but the good is GREAT!

Good

1. My hair is shedding less. I used to lose full on headfulls in the shower and wasn't sure how I wasn't bald.

2. Continuing on the hair note, it's not as flat as it used to be. It's noticeably better in the root department. I'm giving credit to not having the vascular constriction of smoking. Maybe my scalp is healthier now? I don't know for sure, but not smoking is the only thing I've changed. I didn't flip it to blow dry out of curiosity and I still had Texas Big Hair when I was through.

3. Skin already has a better color. I used to rely on concealer for undereye circles a lot more. I can totally skip it now, this is a marvel. Maybe I'll decide I need it later, but it's a big contrast from before. Some very minor breakouts, but nothing overwhelming.

4. This is an over 18 forum, so I'm just gonna say it. Sex is better without smoking. It is, and I won't go into graphic detail but we're all adults. I'm sure a lot of you know what I mean. I hope so anyway. Not having the smoke stink factor here is nice as well!

5. I finally understand how great mouthwash is now that I'm not mucking it up with a cig. Listerine, I love you, and you really do last a good 4-6 hours! I don't have to chew gum anymore, which is great because I grind my teeth at night too much for that ish anyway.

Bad

1. I wake up with a slight headache in the morning pretty regularly. It's not terrible, just enough to notice and require advil. Goes away easily enough but I can't wait for that to stop.

2. I used to smoke in the garage and now it smells filthy. Gonna have to powerwash it and slap some KILLZ on the walls or something.

Ugly

1. My digestive tract is in a war of attrition on itself I swear! With smokes, the bathroom was like clockwork. Now, it's whenever the heck my body feels like it. My belly sounds like a warzone 90% of the day. I seriously bought Activia and a daily probiotic. Jamie Lee Curtis, you better be right about the product your shilling!

Well done...keep it going.

yeah you do go through some changes when quitting the smokes.

Personally i've never lost a lot of hair like you say. And i never had 'Texas hair'.

My skin colour has improved too.

No.4, yes yes yes oooooo weeeee yes.....lol.

Bad - i found it difficult to sleep for ...like....3 weeks. I got a lot of indigestion/heartburn.

All good now though. I don't know about listerine but my food tastes better than ever.

I remember a very funny post from the time I started lurking here that said something like:

" Side effects I have experienced:

1- Less coughing
2- Higher sex drive
3- Acne
4- Lack of sleep

Somehow 2 and 4 might be connected O.O "

I laughed of it until I got my e-cig and used it for 2 weeks... Then I really understood what he meant...

I mean, my coughing got better :)sure:)

if you keep it up for another week or two your digestive tract will start to adjust. once your body gets used to having the nicotine vapour in place of the smoke, it will start to get back to normal (aside form the good things which will get better). i dont like suggesting (or admitting) this but for the really ugly times when i was first switching, i would bum a smoke off a friend or even just take a drag... the taste alone would leave me feeling dirty and i would immediately have to vape, but it did help settle the tummy down and ease the sore throat a bit . its not the nictoine in cigarettes that speeds up your metabolism, its all the other chemicals so having a SMALL amount of them for someone switching cold turkey to vaping is not necessarily bad. my theory is as long as your not buying packs you're not really smoking anyway :p. since the first month or so i have been completely analog free though (aside from a drunken adventure on new years and one time where i ran my juice supply dry and broke my charger in the same week...that was a crap week) and i'm sure once you get passed the inital doldrums, you'll be too. Aside from all the obvious benefits of vaping and the community, its just way more fun!!!! i mean have you ever heard of a regular cigarette forum ??? if that does exist, i cant imagine it sparking very lively discussions :D

Well summarized on all these points!

I started getting really bad heartburn, noticeably worse immediately after a vaping session and had to reduce my nicotine (went from 24 to 12). Now I use 24 only for strong cravings or stress relief (when the other (adult) relief isn't available) and 12 or less through the day.

Relax! Enjoy!

I'm too dumb to figure out how to multi-quote without it being a major c/p operation, sigh. I read all the replies and am SO GLAD that feeling as if I have warring Alien babies fighting over whose gonna pop out first isn't a me specific thing! I will get back to this and report on activia + probiotic usage. It feels disgusting and has me legit worried once or twice a day. Totally a buzzkill when you're looking better than before and getting it on is like a revelation compared to the smoking days ><

2 + 4 being related? Nooo...

The hair things was a surprise to me too! I'm glad someone else is seeing it. Strange, but in a much welcome way. My hair is scrawny fine so every little bit helps! I don't know if it's the glycerine, hadn't considered it. I was leaning toward not having the vascualr constriction of smoking reducing blood supply to follicles. Probably because I hear about brushing hair being good for the opposite reason. Whatever it is, it's working for me!

Edit: Yep, drinking lots of water! Bought a Brita pitcher and have been abusing it

Well my skin has gone to hell ... Happened about a month in and my quit zits have not abated. I don't think my regular crappy diet has changed much.. It was always mediocre, so now maybe my body isn't shielding me from it. it's been two months of breakouts pretty solidly. And I'm 48 so this is not at all welcome! I've got enough trouble with my damn face slowly sliding off at this age!

The bar is /reply/reply with quote/ "+ (which is supposed to mean, Multi-Quote this Message) Not enough room to spell it out, I guess.

Brita: The second best investment we could make. THE best for any non-smoker.

Kren, I'm a fully hormonal break outer, sometimes I get off easy but others...not so much. Never had "perfect" skin though. My face tends to be oily, and I can't exfoliate it enough. Honestly could not scrub my face enough. I used to get facials like mad, then one day I looked at the ingredients on the stuff they were using because facials are way too expensive. Did some googling too. Ultimately, what's evened me out is a home facial with the same ingredient I was getting wallet pillaged over. Ascorbic acid aka vitamin C.

What you need: measuring spoons, vitamin c powder, distilled water, small dish, cheap makeup brush (I use an old blush brush)

I bought the powder at vitamin shoppe. Put a tablespoon of the distilled water in a little dish, room temp works fine. Then, this is important, use your 1/8 spoon for the vitamin c powder. If you only have a 1/4 tsp, then use half or a little less. If you overdo it then it can feel like it's burning. I've done it, and once I washed it off I was fine. Mix the powder a bit, it dissolves pretty fast. Then use the brush to put it on, avoiding your eyes, you don't want vitamin c there. I usually sleep with it on. Some people break open a vitamin e capsule and put it on as well before going to bed. Use a towel for your pillow if you sleep with it on. It's normal to feel tingly, not to feel burny. If you feel uncomfortable wash it off and you're good. Start off once a week, I wouldn't do it more than 2 times a week though. Also you can add more powder too as you figure out what you can take. Wouldn't go beyond 1/2 tsp personally.

The next morning my face feels awesome. There are some youtube videos as well on this. I caught on late!

The entire body takes a hit after you quit years of smoking that great cigarette tar stuff.

I had digestive, headache, toothache and sleep issues. These problems go away after a few days or a week or two after converting to vaping.

I improved my exercise routines. Walk a few brisk miles every day at least. If you are accustomed to exercise then increase the workout. Drink a lot more water. Improve your diet, including more fresh green veggies. Stabilize your sleep amounts getting more sleep if you need it. Don't forget to cut down on vaping during the four hours prior to rack time.

Males may get hornier. I did. That comes from not smoking saltpeter used in tobacco paper. I didn't see this as a problem.

Don't substitute smoking with snacking on junk food. If you need too snack in addition to vaping choose something healthy like carrots, celery or apples or the like. I like olive oil (plus salt and pepper) crisped kale instead of potato chips. Your hunger and thirst will increase after you give up the cigarettes for vaping.
