Ok so I finally got it going.... kinda lol. I ended up oxidizing the wick more, about 6 times more to the point that it wouldn't pop the coil in 1/2 a second.
I'm pretty sure I have to play with the wicks more, as it doesn't really taste all that well, and I think the bottom 2 coils are not heating up. I'll try to wrap another coil in a little bit and let you know how it goes.
Nep my humble advice to you.
Unroll that wick and measure its length and re roll a new one to fit the hole snug but not to the point of having to force wick in the hole.
Then a small 45 degree angle cut is made on 1 end ( inside tank end) and put into tank to then cut level with the top end of positive connector.
I roll mine on a straightened out steel paper clip not the coated color ones and i leave it in and use needle nose pliers to grip paper clip and oxidize on stove , as i see wick turn red i keep in flame for 15-20 seconds and then quench it in water it makes a neat sound.
I then dab it gently with napkin a little and back to stove.
This process is done 5 times each time followed with water quench.
Finally with syringe i lightly coat with e-liquid and burn that off but not quench in water.
Its now ready to coil.
I use 32gauge Kanthal A-1 wire and 400 grade mesh, kanthal wire is cut at 2 and 3/4inch and up to 3 inch length then trimmed after coil is wrapped.
I keep the ground and positive lead wires taught to there connection but not super tight cause its easy to break the oxidation barrier .
Dry fire coil with no e-liquid in tank and coil bone dry as well but do so at low voltage i use 3.2-3.4 .
You want to see all the coils glow pretty evenly.
As a note your top coil wire will glow first quickly followed by the rest and bottom coil will usually glow a tad less and this is fine .
If that top wire glows a really really bright red compared to the other coils below it you have to adjust that 1 wire.
If wires need adjusting with finger nail or something small and blunt touching the wire only gently nudge it up or down, if you scrape the mesh you break the ox barrier and have to go beyond that point cause it will short.
Once its installed in tank and tank if filled before fireing give it a minute or two and watch you wick saturate itself. Your good to go some prewet the wick i do not.
As a note you should not have to tilt your device to get capillary action.
Sounds like a lot of work but its not really and once done several times its quite easy but once up and running the mesh will last a very long time compared to silica when the coil wire itself gets gunked i either unwrap it and scrape the gunk off with my finger nail and re-wrap or i use a new piece of Kanthal.
A 100ft roll of it is inexpensive and will last a long long time useing 3 inches at a time. ; )
There are other ways of doing this process as you can see in many video's out there and they work this is just my personal way that works for me.
Here is link in other thread showing that 45 degree angle cut used .
